Derek Carr - Why People Dislike Him (IMO) (3 Viewers)

Rodgers would probably have a longer leash because of his past success, but it wouldn’t go on forever. Meanwhile, Carr seems to have a history of always being a piece away from being a top QB, so I don’t think fans have the patience to wait for him to get yet another coach/receiver/whatever to get him over the line.

Also, it’s ridiculous for fans to compare Carr to Mahomes, when one has never won a playoff game and the other is a two-time Super Bowl MVP. I’ve also seen Carr compared to Manning and Brady, two first ballot HOF QB’s. He doesn’t have anywhere near the track record to barge in the door and tell everyone else that they aren’t doing what it takes to win when he isn’t playing at a high level.
I don't think that makes a difference other than people put up with those guys reaming players on the field. If a player like Shaheed or AT or CO screws up it's the QB's job to let them know and the problem is its happened multiple times BEFORE that play. I saw a few QB's chastizing players for screwing up this past weekend and none were Brady , Manning or Rodgers

They are garbage. Last week they let him get driven into the ground, which broke his rib and concussed him a second time in 3 weeks without even a glance at the defender that laid the cheap shot on him. Then this week McCoy goes off unhinged after Carr gets hit again because Ruiz absolutely whiffed on his 1 on 1 block of a linebacker.
I will never forget that Ruiz's whiffed block basically ended Brees' career.

Yet another blown 1st round pick on a lineman by this regime. Never forget that Ruiz chose to go to Michigan over multiple SEC offers (LSU, Auburn, Florida reportedly) - what does that say about his willingness to go against the best to become the best.

I'm not a Carr apologist, but there's plenty of blame to go around on this team.

1. There's no leadership at the top: Ownership (I love Mrs. B. but she's not a vocal owner), GM (he's passive too), and most importantly from DA
2. The offensive line is been inconsistent all season ranging from atrocious at times to slightly above adequate at times. Maybe it's the coaching. Maybe it's the QB making bad assignment calls. Maybe it's the physical tools of the players. Maybe it's the mindset of the players (this trickles down to the leadership of the coaches and from the QB)
3. There have been times when he's look really good, but I don't know if those have been so infrequent because of his ability, the blocking, his injuries, the depth and quality at receiver, or maybe it's the play calling.

The obvious solution to me is a complete reset this off-season with a new head coach that is 1. offensive minded and 2. commands the respect of the players.
Posts like this have been repeated since Carrs rookie year. It’s always everybody else’s fault and “Carr just needs…”

The reason folks get so tired and frustrated with Carr is because his interviews and antics are “all hat, no cattle”.

His brothers and close followers on social media protect him and coddle him and he believes nothing is his fault. Been watching g this movie for 10 years

The underlying problem with Carr is not that he is arrogant, condesending, self-centered and a jerk, it's that he doesn't see these things about himself and refuses to take ownership. He literally told a reporter "I'm not going to be negative with you brother." Pretending to take the high road while talking down with the 'brother' comment. Still can't believe this guy surived in Oakland as long as he did. Clearly lives in a bubble.
You DON"T know DC, NOBODY on here knows DC so calling him names based on what you FEEL is quite immature. SMH Some people on this board are just ridiculous

More than a few.

If Derek Carr had half the ability of a Mahomes, Rogers, or Brady the other diva crap would slide down the pipe better.

This dude is a terrible teammate and an average QB to boot. GTFOH.
HOW do you know??? You're NOT his teammate OR his friend. So I guess if you win a SB then you overlook the fact that you're a Jerk??? How hypocritical

This is definitely a huge part of it. But he’s also turned off a lot of people with his actions, lack of accountability and apparent sense of entitlement. We’ve had worse QBs who didn’t elicit this type of reaction.

Something just comes off as aloof. Like he feels like he should be above criticism and questioning from media, etc.
Show me where he has lack of accountability??? Show me where he has demonstrated a sense of entitlement??? Go ahead I'll wait

Why people hate him:

- He's fake. I guarantee he's phony as hell. Acts one way but will throw you under the bus with the swiftness.
- Arrogant - He thinks he's WAYYYY better than he is. You can get away with some of his sheet if you can back it up. He cannot.
- Eyeliner - This one is probably unfair, but it's a reason...
- Terrible leadership runs in the family. Nobody really liked David either. The Carrs are like the Instagram/TikTok moms who know everything and put on this fake arse front for their followers but are a total trainwreck in real life...
This is about as MORONIC a post as I've seen almost as the TROLL that said his palette was trash. You DON"T know the guy but YOU publicly TRASH his character SMH

I wouldn't say it's garbage. It was terrible at the beginning of the season, but it's gotten a bit better.

Combine inconsistent O-line play with a QB with very little pocket presence and who holds the ball too long is more accurate.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Carr is the only problem, but at this point a very big one.
The Oline and Marrone were GARBAGE in the beginning of the season and they are STILL WELL below average ( see last game ) You put ANY QB in the league and none will succeed

FWIW - Per PFF, 23 QB's (minimum 182 dropbacks) have seen a higher rate of dropbacks under pressure than Carr this year. Carr is under pressure on 33.3% of his dropbacks. The worst is Justin Fields at 47.8%. The best is Tua at 21.7%.
Stats don't tell the story here. The guy has been knocked out of 2 games out of 13 this yr not to be able to come back in. and been knocked around in most games. NO stat is gonna tell you how that affects your confidence in having time to throw

This not calling out correct protections on 3d down blitzes on that sack that McCoy got hot about is RUBBISH and Vilma was WRONG sorry even great LB's can make a mistake from the broadcast booth. DC VERY clearly said "49 is the Mike " before the snap. 49 was RUIZ's responsibility so much so that AK ON THAT SIDE felt he could slip out on a checkdown route. It was Ruiz's fault he whiffed on the block SMH
So it’s never DC4’s fault for all of the 1,000 whiffs on blitzes this year? Like I said, I have yet to go in hard on DC4 this year, but he has been a problem with blitzes, just as much as our Olinemen with missed assignments. This is not an isolated incident.

Hi David. I know you are defending your brother. But I really don’t have time to dig up all his overreactions, screaming at others, making it seem like there’s no disconnect with his teammates, etc.

Nope. It is not his fault. It is his fault that he is hanging his Recievers out getting them hurt. It is his fault he is not
Making the right reads, and holding onto the ball. Can’t guard Mike has brought this up multiple times. Make the right read and you don’t get hit. His best pass yesterday was to Andrus Peat. I will let you defend that decision. The Saints knew and, we as fans knew that Caesar Ruiz was a Center. He was not a guard. You don’t ask wide reciever to play fullback. The Saints failed Ruiz. They have never drafted a true Guard. They drafted Trevor Penning. Maybe they should put him at Guard. That is Ireland and Loomis. I cannot be mad at Ruiz. That is not his natural position. He has never had sam linebackers coming at him ever in his life until the Saints said “ your a good center. We are going to change your position.” Dumb.
Yes absolutely Derek Carr deserves a lot of blame for having less that 40 yards passing with 8 minutes left in the game. Derek Carr completed 2 forward passes for -18 yards. Do you know how hard it is to throw the ball forward for -18 yards. What was he averaging 3.8 yards a pass? His Passing Rating was 30 something.
