Derek Carr world tour thread (updated with combine visits) (1 Viewer)

His knee issues doesn't have anything to do with his level of play?
I’ve specifically heard our elite olineman say in interviews, that they appreciated Brees because of his quick release. They were still great players, but DB absolutely helped their longevity. It’s common sense. If you only have to block a bull for two seconds compared to five, you’re less likely to get run over by said bull.. (or take friendly fire shots etc). The OLine is the MOST injured position in football. So the fact alone that DB had the same group of guys for years and years, that speaks volumes about DB.

Cherry picking my comments to create an irrelevant argument. SMH
It's not just yours, a lot of posters make excuses for Allen because we're stuck with him. He's the best we can do right now, I get it.

No. If all that you and rlemieux are saying is true, then why is the Jets 7-10 better than the Saints 7-10?

When you have to ask if your situation is better than the Jets, I think that really sums up where we have found ourselves.

We have to make tough choices to rebuild this franchise. At this point, every year we kick the can, we win less games and will make the rebuild a longer process. Everyone outside of New Orleans says we are in rebuild. Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt.

1. We’re comparing the two franchises wrt where Carr May sign.

2. We would instantly be favorites to win the south if we got him. We already have the best NFC odds of south teams, even with zero QB. https://www.legalsportsreport.com/odds/nfl/division/

So, yeah. Not “everyone” is living in denial.

1. Many people are debating if the Saints or Jets would be the best situation for Carr. No &*&$ thats why we are talking about the Saints and Jets.

2. Winning the South doesnt make you a contender. Right now the NFC South is the worst division I can recall in my liftetime. The best QB in the division as it sits is....Sam Darnold?

8-9 winner of the NFC South for a season or two, we have goals. We are going to mortgage the foreseeable future to maybe win the worst division in NFL history. Denial is real.

Once again, the NFL is not a “Super Bowl ready made roster or tear the whole thing down” league. And I can guarantee you that the Saints organization does not have that sort of doom and gloom, let’s tank mindset.

If you can win your division, you go for it. All it takes is a hot streak, a lucky bounce, a ref call in your favor, or even an unknown rookie RB you picked in round 6 randomly stepping up and playing at an MVP level that year, and suddenly, you’re in a conference title game with a chance.

Hell, what if we had stumbled our way into a home playoff game by winning our division, beat Dallas, and our next opponent suddenly has to play that game without a QB like PHI got the privilege of facing in the NFC title game.

You just never know. Unless your roster is absolutely putrid, you have to give yourself an opportunity and go for it.

It’s not denial. It’s the exact opposite of denial. It’s living in reality.

The team is not changing its approach. So it’s not “rebuilding” in their eyes, because rebuilding implies a change in approach.

So since they’re not rebuilding, some of us are looking for/discussing ways to make the team the best it can be.

Denial is refusing to accept the reality that’s in front of you. I’d rather live in reality and discuss ways to improve that reality.

That actually sounds like Saints' friendly deal.
Yeah I think most people would be on board for a $35-40 million dollar deal. That's right in the Stafford, Cousins, and Prescott range. It's actually pretty reasonable.

If we could get him for that for the next 4-5 years that'd be excellent for the franchise and the cap. Want to lock in a QB for as long as possible before Burrow signs his new deal and resets the QB market.

Don't know about denial, but the reality is....just because a division was really bad one year doesn't mean it will be again the next year....things change really fast in the NFL, it seems a lot of folks are forgetting that.....

Well, that's not unexpected. There are several teams looking to upgrade at QB. Curious who's reaching out to him tho.
The Panthers can make a similar, and potentially better, argument than us. A weak division, an offensive coach, a better cap and picks, and a respectable defense. The more teams that get involved, the worse our chances are.

Burrow and Hurts are about cause a problem for the market.
