Derek Carr world tour thread (updated with combine visits) (1 Viewer)

You assume Allen is a competent coach, just like you assume no one else in the division will get better. Health is nothing but luck and not a valid excuse for good coaches.
Allen won’t be less competent next year than he was this year when we were one game away from winning the division.

A better QB is worth at least one game. Barring one of the other three teams adding someone better than Carr (Jackson?), we would be instant heavy favorites to win the division. We already are the NFC South team with the best odds to win the NFC, and that’s without a QB.

I know I’m in the minority but I truly feel it will be better for the team if he doesn’t sign here. Really do.

Not for the immediate (next season) but for the long term. Allen will be gone after this next season, Pete, etc. Derek is not the answer and especially not at the price he’s demanding, his age, etc.

That's where I think you and the other ABDA Krewe might be disappointed. I don't think DA's job is in jeopardy. He took over team without a QB, a RB in legal trouble, star WR trying to comeback after 2 disastrous sesson among other things that got derailed due to injuries (the injuries aren't a reason crew might as well not reply, they are a reason and every other team in the NFL can use it except the Saints, GTHOH). With all of that, he still nearly doubled his own single season win total, 4 to 7. Sure he doesn't give the best press conferences per fans standards, but you don't hear players speaking out other that JW and the mouth of the south CJGJ. Now, nobody knows what went down with JW, but the fact that no players have come to his defense says as lot. So now, DA had to roll with the guy he signed to be QB2 as QB1, not ideal. As much as fans like to hate on him, you can't even say he's a bad drafter, since his drafts in Oakland included Khalil Mack and DC. He's been a part of some really good drafts here and the 2022 draft was a good one as well. So, although I can see the frustration and understand it, I don't think he's viewed by players, coaches and the FO the same way. They are going to give him a chance to make this his team and see what happens.

Just curious, what is the going rate for a QB1 in his prime in the open market? One who averages over 66% completion rate with a 70% in his career, a 2+/1 TD/Int ratio, 4K yards/season and 25-30 TDs per season all while being durable, avaliable, athletic and a leader of men?

If Carr was really leaning towards the Jets, there should be reports of the Jets offering a contract and close to signing. He shouldn’t even have to lean towards them. He could just outright sign with them and avoid the drama for this long. Jets and Carr doesn’t appear to be close on a contract, just public negotiation tactics.

It's not even about Carr to be honest; Rodgers is the first domino that needs to fall.

It depends. Who do the Panthers, Falcons, or Bucs have playing quarterback?

I agree with what I think is your point, that it’s too early for that question.

Free agency and the draft are still upcoming and other teams will have a chance to improve. I think we would be better than the Bucs with Trask, waiting to see what the Falcons and Panthers do at QB this offseason.

For what it’s worth, Vegas seems to think we are the favorites, pre-free agency.

One game from winning the division. :ROFLMAO: Outside of the first game, at no point were above 500 the whole year. We beat one team with a winning record because the MVP candidate QB was out. Allen is a terrible head coach, but you guys keep lowering the bar to convince people we weren't that bad just because the division was weak.

That’s why the Carr leaning towards the Jets report doesn’t really matter while the Jets remain strongly leaning towards Rodgers. Carr leaning to the Jets will mean something once it translates into a contract offer or closing in on agreement. The Jets aren’t offering Carr a contract unless/until Rodgers tells them no.

All valid points. I don’t hate DA (don’t hate any players or coaches) just don’t think he’s a good HC. I’m just a fan tho, so I get your points.

To your last, all valid point imo…..it’s just not the direction this team should be going. He is not the answer for the long term, nor will he guide the team to a Super Bowl. Obviously just my 0.02.

I don't how I was pulled into this. Didn't Vegas say Sean was going to the Cards? Also, I've never said Carr wasn't an improvement; I don't think he's elite.

Funny that we are his second choice and he’s their second choice lol. Reminds me of that old Eagles song.

Bingo.

It’s actual math. Had we beaten the Bucs, we would have won the division. One game.

I've heard JW had issues with not being put back in as starter after his injuries, but did he ever make any public statements about Allen's decision?

Who knows who will win the NFC South? Add Carr, minus Kamara, keep PC, I’m not seeing how we are better. I’m also not sure how anyone is writing off the Panthers or Bucs, when both teams finished neck and neck with the Saints while undergoing major drama.
