Fire Dennis Allen Billboard (1 Viewer)

I don't disagree that DA needs to go, but didn't DA just fulfill your fourth requirement of :
  • A head coach who develops players and has a team playing its best late in the season

I guess you could argue that he didn't do a great job of developing players, although I do think several young players have developed well, i.e. Olave, Rasheed, A.T. Perry, Breese, Yiadom, Howden, but his team was certainly playing their best ball late in the season even if it was against weaker competition. I mean, the competition was weak, but they did play by far their best ball at the end of the season.
In my post you quoted, you cut it off at the line that followed:
Three late wins against the division does not yield any trust from me for the future.
Yes, new young guys on defense played well at times but were no match for Stafford, Goff, and Lawrence, or Jordan Love in the one quarter that killed the season when the Saints were only 2-0.

On offense, when Carr was signed - my take was that he was going to have to play much better than he did as a Raider. But he did not and was not the alpha he had to be. So thank God for Olave and Shahid, but if I'm their agent, I'm not happy right now about their long term future in New Orleans, because the QB is mid-tier and seemingly hit his ceiling years ago.

Loomis says the status quo gets a 2024, so we'll see if DA and the Do Nothings can become something better, or...

Personally I’m against the billboard. I think it’s a little crass and even though I dislike DA as a head coach he is a human being with feelings and a family. There’s better ways to show your displeasure with the direction of the team. Like not going to games etc.

I’m not happy with where we are at and this last season was extremely disappointing and frustrating. They would play so poorly but then put it all together for a game or two like against Atl or NE. Yeah those teams are bad but good teams should dominate bad teams. It’s frustrating because you saw the potential. There’s talent here. I just don’t think DA really knows how to harness it.
Like it or not, being an NFL Head Coach is a public figure. Part of your job is to interface with the media and to a large extent, the general public. And oh by the way, that general public is the fanbase that's paying your salary. It's an entertainment industry, and the fanbase is the customer. If the customer isn't happy, the customer is well within their rights to let you know about it. There's a million ways for someone like ML to explain away empty seats. But a direct, to-the-point message like a billboard is pretty hard to dodge.

Do I think anything will change because of a billboard. Yeah, not really. Is it petty? Probably. But can you fault the fans for putting their feelings on display in such a direct manner? Hell no.

The way I see it...

If you remove Dennis allen your defense will drop off.. if you add a offensive mind like gruden that can structure Pete Carmichael's creativity... then you are cooking.

The Saints are actually a very talented team with a mediocre at best coach. He's really not a leader of men. His post-game speeches and pressers make that abundantly clear. Not to mention how the players are responding, or not, to him.
Are we really? I think we a overrating ourselves quite a bit. Do we have a few guys? Yes, but most NFL teams have a few guys.

Are we really?
Yes, absolutely.
I think we a overrating ourselves quite a bit.
Who do you think is overrated? When the team was playing well, they could complete with just about anyone. The talent is absolutely there.
Do we have a few guys?
We have more than a few guys. Staying a little more healthy would have helped some this season. Also, Kamara missed the first 4 games of the season and took a little time to find his stride when he returned. And the team blew a 17-0 4th quarter lead vs the Packers, and basically was Love's coming into his own.
Yes, but most NFL teams have a few guys.
Yes, most teams have some guys, but the Saints overall are the most talented team in the NFC South. Atlanta is catching up quick though. The Bucs are decent but not close to great. And we beat the brakes off of them 2 weeks ago.

The problems the team had this season stemmed largely from coaching. Talent wasn't an issue.

Does anyone actually think doing something like this has any effect on team decisions?

Instead of spending extra money on a useless billboard... save some money by not going to games. If the stadium is empty, that will prompt a change.

Agree totally on above. I really don't care about any billboard, if the Saints continue down this road of "underachievement nirvana" (or whatever that means), then folks need to stop going to games.....
