Fix Netflix (2 Viewers)

Yeah, I'm not sure I'm up to that level of commitment in order to watch TV. :)

And, like I said, I've seen things not come up when searched for on one profile but come up on the other. They really want you to watch what they want you to watch. BTW, a VPN would allow access to other versions of Netflix, right? Although, I suspect it also violates their TOS.

I don't know if Netflix has VPN blocking or not. but yes, the offerings do vary from country to country. I can use my same account in both the U.S. and MX, but my profile changes depending on where I am. Examples, off the top of my head: in MX, Netflix was showing Star Trek Discovery, which in the U.S. is a CBS All-Access exclusive; before the pandemic, they were showing recently - released movies (Spiderman Homecoming comes to mind) ; they were showing the John Wick movies in MX but not in the U.S....

Netflix does attempt to block VPNs (kind of), but it's a moving target so particular VPNs may or may not be blocked.

If you are accessing Netflix through a 'blocked' VPN, you don't get the country's content, you typically only get Netflix Originals, i.e. the content that they have globally.

... even though a lot of the content Netflix labels "Netflix Original" globally is not :hihi:

First it was Netflix
Then it was Netflix for Movies and Hulu for TV shows.
Then Amazon Prime diluted the waters, then a million other things.
Disney plus raised the bar for original content, and Netflix hasn't been able to keep up.
Now I have many subscriptions and Netflix is the most likely to get the axe when I start to cancel some.
Netflix has no niche and no real reason for subscriber loyalty.

I didn't read the whole thread, but I'd imagine that from an American point of view Netflix is broken because it doesn't solely cater to American sensibilities. That's something I actually really love about Netflix. It's the only streaming service where I get watch pop culture for other countries. Forget waiting for Hollywood to make the American version of a foreign show and screw it up royally. Without Netflix, we would have eventually gotten an Americanized version of Squid Game that totally lacked any of the soul that the original version had. I like the original Korean, Nigerian, Indian, and British content Netflix has.

Netflix is a for a global market and that doesn't always sit well with American tastes and sensibilities. I'm okay with that.
To this I say ‘fi!’
It USED to be where I got introduced to titles like Fauda, Occupied, Rain or even Broadchurch and the recommendations were on point
But now, especially in terms of quality, HBO is a much much better source of international titles

I have most of the big ones (Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, AppleTV, and Amazon Prime). Prime is the least likely to go anywhere. As long as it comes with the Prime subscription it's staying. I'd have to pay for a divorce to separate my wife from shopping on Prime so there's no way. Disney+ isn't going any where because my toddler would murder us in our sleep. Netflix is the go to for my teenager (as I write this, it makes me thinking you old fogies may just be old). AppleTV and Hulu are expendable for me. Oh yeah, I still have cable too.

Edit: I have HBO Max and am apparently missing out on their international content. I was grandfathered into HBO Max via my cable sub so I don't pay for it directly, but find it useful for the new movie content.

If you have an iPhone, AppleTV is a no brainier if you have a family with the Apple One plan. You get Apple Music, TV+, Cloud Storage 200GB and Arcade for $20.

I have Netflix, Prime, YouTubeTV, HBOMax and Disney+.

I could honestly drop pretty much all of them and be fine except YouTubeTV, because I watch the news, some local stuff, the weather during hurricane season, and Saints when they're in season. Still, it's expensive for this purpose, but I got annoyed trying to do the antenna game. My wife records some cooking shows sometimes.

HBOMax has some content I watch regularly, and sometimes has movies worth a watch. I could drop it and be fine, but we have it free through AT&T Internet, so it stays.

Disney+ has good content, but I haven't gotten hooked on one of their shows since Loki, and I don't really rewatch any of the movies that I enjoy, but generally watch in the theatre and then that's it. We should really probably go ahead and drop this one, but it's cheap, so it stays.

I've never found Prime to be worth watching for the most part, but we have Prime for shipping, so it stays.

My wife is the only reason we still have Netflix. She likes a lot of the content on there. I used to, but it's hard lately to find something worthwhile. But it's the wife, so it stays.

HBOMAX, I thought of another way to get it free if you dont qualify for any of the other ways. Recently within the past few months ATT reworked their mobile plans, if you are a legacy customer, they wont go out of their way to tell you BUT the new mobile plans are called 5G ______. The 5G plans come with HBOMAX, where the previous plans did not, also the 5G plans are cheaper than what you were paying.

I was not aware of this. I need to check it out. Thanks.
I think T-mobile customers get a free year. They also did paramount +...only reason I have it now.

I need to find the apple TV deal link and get it

On a note related how feeble investors are, Tesla just dropped $126 billion in value because of concerns over Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter, and NASDAQ (which lists Netflix) overall fell over 2%.

I really don't think that had much to do with Elon and Twitter. Overall markets are mush right now. Tesla is just along for the ride.

Yes, overall the markets are taking hits. The DOW fell 800 points today. But the fall in Tesla stock has been linked to the Twitter deal, as there were no other known factors that would have effected such a drop.
