Bottom line, Jeremy Shockey could have the kind of impact on our offense that Moss had for the Patriots last year..
the patriots have a very good defense

Not agreeing nor disagreeing, but drafting a collage player is far more of a WHAT IF than trading for and extablished player.
+1
oh.... can he play DT ? CB ? LB ? Safety ?
the patriots have a very good defense
is that the reason we seem to skip on potential defensive players every year ?
look at the colts and how they build their team. look at the browns before. look at the seahawks , eagles etc.
Get Shockey... hell give them a 2nd... I doubt anybody we draft in the 2nd round will have his type of impact.
#1 Scoring offense in the league with Shockey stretching the seam...
ok...so I got his contract issue mixed up...I see Saintaholic and Saintsfan are the "accuracy police"...you guys wanna contribute to the post or are you guys just patrolling for mistakes you can point out?
2001 - Reggie Wayne Wide Receiver Miami (FL)
2002 - Dwight Freeney Defensive End Syracuse
2003 - Dallas Clark Tight End Iowa
2004 - No First Round Pick
2005 - Marlin Jackson Cornerback Michigan
2006 - Joseph Addai Running back LSU
2007 - Anthony Gonzalez Wide receiver Ohio State
Since 2001 the Colts have taken 4 Offense and 2 Defense when it comes to First Rounders. Seems to have worked well for them. During all these years their Defense was considered their weak spot and their Offense was their strength. If Offense is your strength you darn well better be sure you can KEEP it strong. I am not saying we shouldn't work on our Defense but we better keep adding to our offense or we will really have no chance.
Sorry if i missed it in another post but i have not seen anyone bring up the point that he is another decoy. Shockey being double teamed or even guarded heavily by the safety means more space for reggie and our wide receivers. I wouldnt care if he came to our offense and only got 200 yards receiving. As long as he is on the field, someone will be open. If he does start getting open, that means eventually teams will have to put linebackers and defensive lineman out in coverage. Guess who that leaves out in the open? Mr Reggie Bush! Think about it. I just did and have a big grin.
I see your point and it could be very productive. BUT, Shockey will surely care if he only got 200 yds. That, IIRC hihi has been one of his biggest reasons of raging fits. That won't work out too well. Then again, everyone on every play can be a decoy no and then. Bush, Colston. Meach, Miller, DOOOOCE, Patten ...........
Whoever said that he could get 1,000 yds is a bit off. With all the weapons, it would be hard for a TE to get that many yards. I know he would be productive, but not that productive IMO.

He might envision himself as more of a pure pass catcher, while the Giants have repeatedly said they value Shockey's blocking. Shockey himself may be at the source of trade rumors. It still seems unlikely he'll be dealt.
