Giants and Saints still talking? (2 Viewers)

I dont like really like shockey, but if he becomes a Saint I'll love him. Further more, i think he'll do just fine under CJ (WR coach) their both from Miami.

i know i'm probably not thinking right here, but wouldn't it be better to swap 1st round picks for shockey? we'd get him and pick #31, which values shockey as a lateish 1st rd choice... at 31 we can then take mayo, connor, or balmer (whichever is there) and we'd still have #40

somebody show me why that's off base, i had a tough day at work and might not be thinking clearly

A 3 at best for him if we do not use that pick to move up for Ellis. Definitely not worth a 2. There are too many good prospects in 2 to pass up. And not worth swapping firsts, either IMHO.

i hate all who wants shockey on this team

I don't understand why people "hate" the idea of adding another awesome dimension to our already prolific offense. I'm sure Jerod Mayo and Trevor Laws look great on whatever 5 minute youtube video everyone is watching, but Shockey is a proven game-breaker. Brees likes to use TE's, Payton utilizes them in his offense, and Shockey is one of the best. I agree that we should hold out for the right price, I understand that thinking and I agree with it, but to simply say I hate you because you want to bring a truly awesome player to this team is ridiculous. I would give up a second rounder(but not Harper).

My problem with going after Shockey has to do with the first four games last year, where the offense was out of synch. Even with Shockey on the team, that could happen again. We found out that the Saints' defense is not good enough to carry an offense that is not scoring points. Now, maybe the defensive personnel has been improved significantly during the offseason--but do we want to take chance? Assuming Meachem lives up to his potential, the offense is good enough IMHO. Let's keep working on the defense.

"Eric Johnson - 48 receptions
Billy Miller - 27 receptions
John Owens - 1 reception

That's 76 targets NOT including a handful of drops. While individualy it doesn't look like much, COLLECTIVELY the TE position had more receptions than anyone but Colston.

Now insert Shockey into that role... With his athletecism, toghness and competetive spirit (which is for some reason a "character issue") I could see close to 1,000 yards. He'd also make us more dangerous in the Red Zone, where we could use a little help."

^ GREAT POINT, I was on the fence until I read that. Its obvious that Brees likes to throw to TE's , I WAS thinking that it was the talent of Gates. This proves we need an awesome TE. for this O. We didnt get Alga Crumpler, we missed out on the Titan TE from U of Florida. If we are targeting Fred Davis (TE from USC) then great, but I dont think he will be available with our 3rd Round pick. We need our second for D this year.
I would make the trade for next years 2nd and 5th straight up. What do you all think?

His character issues stemmed from his lack of chemistry with ELI, insert Brees and he'll be fine.

I think accuracy adds to the discussion. Should mistakes not be pointed out?

Personally, I always strive for accuracy and can't understand how some don't seem to think it matters, especially when trying to make an argument for or against an opinion.

That's why my arguments are neither for nor against an opinion - they're just argumentative for argument's sake.
