Inflation here? gas/grocery prices just continue to climb (2 Viewers)

I hear ya, and I feel for guys in industry. But, I also blame the CEO's, etc of the oil companies for a lot of it. I don't want high gas prices, and the future is moving beyond fossil fuels, maybe it's time to get out of the industry while the getting is good.

Yeah they aren't to blame. A lot of them have actually done well tightening the ship and lowering costs. They are only listening to their masters. And at this time, with renewables on the horizon, investors want their money. Not increasing production.

But this has been going on for a few years now. What's happening now was just a matter of time.

This is so depressing. And not in that cliché/figure-of-speech kinda way. Like, literally.

I wish I knew how to buy drugs. I would fund some dealer's entire life.

Loosely related. So I work for a large multinational company. We have a lot of personnel that work remotely and receive a company car upon being hired (myself included).

This company is doing well. Really nice growth and decent future.

Today we got an email from our fleet management company. They said that the chip shortage is causing major supply issues, which is compounded by major labor issues.

They forecasted that substantial delays in acquiring cars will continue until at least 2023.

This is a company that would pay for just about any Ford or Chevy on the assembly line.

They are paying for me to drive a rental car for the foreseeable future because they simply cannot acquire vehicles.

This is insane.

I noticed that the gas station this morning was $3.19 and this afternoon it was $3.25. Steadily ticking up and up and up.

As an aside ( when i saw kilometers) just to show how "American " i am;

Wife and I honeymooned in St. Maartens. I had a jeep rented for the week. You know the drill- bring back full or pay 3x the going cost for gas.

So on morning of departure we driving and there is a Texaco...the sign ( flip numbers mind you- no electronic sign lol ) said $1.08.

I pulled in, told the young man to FILL ER UP like a baller and proceeded inside to get some snacks. Got to the counter and told em im on pump 3 - She said ok total is $78 - I WAS LIKE WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? Your sign said $1.08?!?!?!?

Liters.

LOL.
How much for a liter of cola?

At Wing Stop, a ten-piece wing combo before tax is $16.09. I'm gonna start growing my own chickens.

There's a wing shortage that's made restaurants try selling buffalo thighs. Yeah, no.

There's also a lump crabmeat shortage, too. One of the restaurants near me has severely increased their prices as a result. A single crab cake meal was $24, and now it's $37. They've taken the double crab cake off the menu. The Chicken Chesapeake, which is chicken topped with a crab cake with peppers and a sauce, was $27 and now it's $42.

Unbelieveable.

Uh, so im not sure what these cost pre-Covid.. but i cant imagine many people dropping over two bills for a coupla steaks, no matter how good they taste

That's actually not a bad price for A5. And it's difficult to eat more than 4 ounces, because of the fat content, so that would potentially feed 8 people. Extravagant? Yes. But an indication of inflation? No.

I just want to have enough money in my account to comfortably buy Beef Jerky, and yall buying $200 steaks? sheesh...
