Jameis Winston played a heck of a game against the Saints!!! (1 Viewer)

Jameis is an incredible team mate. People love playing with him. After the game there was a literal receiving line of Saints players lined up to greet Jameis. I had never really seen that before. Like literally 15-20 Saints players in a line waiting patiently to say hi to Jameis as if he was Tom Brady or something. Say what you will about his play on the field, but players love that guy and love playing with him. Heck of a team mate.

I found myself cheering for Jameis even though I wanted the Browns to get crushed. I wish him success and happiness; he's earned it.

Every time I see Jameis' face it makes me smile. I can't say that about anyone else in my life except my cat.

It's also why not looking at the totality of the game is equally as bad as relying on stats alone. We didn't win because of QB play and they didn't lose because of QB play. Crazy concept; I know. But there are things outside the QB position that determines wins and losses, especially when a QB accounts for 400 yards of offense alone.
You really like Jameis Winston. I get it dude.

He's gone. He's not coming back. I don't think he's very good.

Some of you guys have hang ups.... He's 3-7 all time against the Saints... With 10 picks, 58% comp, and has been sacked 27 times... I'd play against him every week if we could. It's a 70% win probability... Good person and Good teammate... Backup QB at best that I am circling as a win on my schedule if he's starting.

If you're being forced to Throw the ball 50 times with Winston. It means you have a terrible gameplan or can't run the ball effectively.

He did great and if it wasn't for a crazy 4th quarter and their kicking missing 6 points. It was anyone game and we outlasted them. Yet, in no reality you want Winston, Carr, or Taysom throwing 50 passes a game.

I can’t lie when he was with the bucs I thought he really sucked. And his crazy antics I thought was idiotic. Then like all other players who come here and acclimate to Nola he grew on me. Just like teddy did. Then he became a family man and positive member in our society while he was here. And his antics weren’t antics as much as I found them him just trying to be funny and lighten the mood. That TD last year and his comments about Watson this year showed how much he’s grown as a man. I told my wife I wouldn’t have mind if we got a Tie yesterday cause he’s grown on me.

Whether you like the guy or not, Jameis was slinging that ball today and really frustrated me as a fan. I was hoping the defense would get a pick 6 or two today. But gotta give him his flowers, he was poised and led that Browns offense today. I certainly wish him well for the rest of the season.
If u wasn’t gone post this I was. Cas maaaan

That's a nice sentiment but kind of sad too. I hope that's not completely true.

N/S

Opposing QB guided team to 6 drives of 23 yards or less. Lots of passing yards available against a Saints team missing both it's opening day starters at CB.

High passing yards against the Saints is not news, it will keep happening for the rest of this year.

Good luck to the Browns going forward, but they need to get back to running the ball, sustaining drives and finding ways to get into range to score more TDs.

Well the score is the score. And last game he scored 10. This game 14.

Of course there are other things involved…..but still he’s barely producing points.
I agree 100% that the score is the score but saying that "he" is barely producing any points ignores the game. Both QBs produced 2 TDs. We just happened to have over 200 yards and 3TDs on the ground (basically Taysom) and THIS was the difference. As I said before, QB play didn't win this game for us and QB play didn't lose the game for the Browns. Pass offense wasn't the issue for any team but we had the advantage in the run game. Taysom went nuts!!!!

We had a winning record with JW, I believe. And I’m one that was blinded by Drew Brees goggles. But now that I’m down to earth, I’m seeing the Qb1 differently.
If you go back and read any of my comments on the matter, that's all I've ever said. We spent so much time wanting the next Drew that we ignored everything that was really happening on the field. And even then, we ignored 2006-2016 Drew to compare both him and Carr to the 2017-2020 versions of Drew. We "stink" at QB evaluation because we don't look at the big picture when looking at QB play.

That was me too. I was hoping that we killed the Browns but Jameis had a great individual performance in a blowout and it worked out perfectly...lol.

I root for him since I realize he has gotten a raw deal in the NFL and feel that he is much better than portrayed. But that still doesn't dismiss the fact that it seems like you are ignoring the totality of the game to pin a loss on a player that accounted for 400 yards of total offense.

"That performance was the epitome of why stats are misleading."

Looking at the game (without bias) tells a different story. Those stats aren't misleading because anybody that watched the game know the vast majority of them came when the game was tied 14-14. So, what's misleading about the stats? That's all I was saying...lol

He played well but we helped by leaving guys wide open. I mean we gave up an 89 yard TD on a crosser to Jeudy and left Moore wide open in the back of the endzone.

I thought it was quite amusing / ironic when we ran basically the same route with MVS for a 70+ yard TD.

I'm sure neither QB complained about the massive RAC their receivers added to their stat lines 😄

yea, for sure that's what fans do is they take what they have witnessed as being great and become spoiled and entitled and assume its now their (fans) standard, and anything less is a disaster. I've been trying to tell Bama fans, that Saban has set a standard at LSU that we've (Lsu fans) unsuccessfully have been trying to recapture. We (LSU fans) are still blinded, and simply and incorrectly assumes that LSU just needs to obtain a roster of 22 DAWGs and we'll be normal again. Its not going to happen. Bama fans, you're going to slowly sink. My point is, sometimes you witness greatness (Saban years), and instead of becoming spoiled and entitled, just appreciate that you've seen it. Because trying to measure up your new players to the great ones will always end in dissapointment.
