Jameis Winston played a heck of a game against the Saints!!! (1 Viewer)

Looking at the game (without bias) tells a different story. Those stats aren't misleading because anybody that watched the game know the vast majority of them came when the game was tied 14-14. So, what's misleading about the stats? That's all I was saying...lol
While I don't think his stats from yesterday's game are misleading, Winston was 1/3 for 13 yds when the game was tied 14-14 though?

Well he’s had 4 ints that were literally in defenders hands and dropped. Same with your logic. Let’s say they hang onto those……he’d be on pace for 40 plus picks.
It seems like we only count "almost interceptions" against certain players.

Crazy how that works out.

His problem has always been reckless play resulting in turnovers. He’s played 3 games. And he ALREADY has a 3 INT game. Do any other QBs in the entire league have a 3 INT game??
OK....and? I don't trip over interceptions like most folks because I don't have selective memory. I saw Drew start a season throwing 9INTs over 4 games against a single TD and we got blown out those games...lol. Also, you gotta watch games outside our team; Goff threw 5 interceptions last week and they won....lol. Crap, Baker threw 3 interceptions when they blew us out. If the Browns actually ran the ball, this would have been a much closer game. *shrugs*

No im glad you’re being honest, I mean he’s getting some serious hate out there. When we signed Carr my opinion was this, and I can go find it, but I said, I like this guy, because he’s still in a his prime, and he’s got some mobility. I was mentally comparing him to AD. He’s Ad but younger and more mobile, therefore he’s a 75% QB. Where AD was 60% and falling. And considering that there was no one left and we were desperate after missing out on Watson. I also would’ve been alright with Baker because he has the tools and is a little younger. But I knew Carr was our guy because of the DA connection. (They literally stayed in touch since his rookie year). But never did I think we were getting Payton Manning, I will say too, that Carrs actual contract did make him seem slightly more valuable than his play, which could be the reason the fans feel ripped off. So I guess that’s it, the people that hate him, we’re assuming that he was a Drew Brees or something.
I don't know why anybody would think he was anything like Drew Brees. Nothing on tape showed that he and I think too many people got too caught up on the sanitization that being in Gruden's system (and the dink and dunk/checkdowns that came with it.). I never even put down Carr but when folks felt they had to crap on Winston (and most of what they were saying didn't match reality), I had to ask the question, how is he an upgrade or how is he even a fit? He was neither but too many wasn't honest about that upfront and then the season happened. They eventually got it together but 13TDs in 13 games was not the business...lol.

The fact that they tried to get Deshaun Watson down here to run a Pete Carmichael offense should tell us everything that we need to know about our QB evaluation..lol.

Relax, dude, he is what he is. He’s been in the league for 8 seasons….and has now started 100 games exactly.

He’s 43-57.

You can have all the stats you want…..but that, my friend, is not a winner.

Over those 100 games he’s had great defensives, great running back games….but one consistent. When he starts, the team loses more often than not.

Not sure how else to explain it to you. You are what your career record says you are.

I think that Carr's issue here was he was presented as a solution to a problem when truth is, that position was the very least of our issues. That came with the fanfare and, at the time, a contract that many weren't feeling. Then the onfield and behind the scenes stuff. It's just been craziness with Carr, if we are being honest.

He is about as hot and cold as Andrew Luck was, but "for reasons," they are seen differently. If he was drafted to the Titans instead of the Bucs, he would probably be seen as one of the best in the league now, because that was a better fit (and actually OK on defense)
Do tell, what reasons are those?

I think the average fan doesn’t pay that close attention. 70-80% of the fanbase. They get their opinion from, the neighbor, friends at work, strangers, family, and the local reporters. They combine all of these messages, then form and opinion, and become a sheep. Thats why i said, Matt masconas heavy handed rants, swayed a ton of ppl. Because if you asked that same ton of ppl if they actually saw Car play a non saints, Raiders game. They’d tell you Nope. So their opinion is 100% coming from other opinions. On this board we’re a lot more educated on the Saints, than the average fan.

And when I say that people don't really watch football like that, this is a prime example of what I'm speaking about. I'm guilty (lol) but when we picked him up, I did my due diligence.

Great Defenses? I will leave the 2019 season out because that is an entire discussion in itself but looking at it year by year:
-2015: 26th Points Allowed; 10th in Yards Allow
-2016: 15th in PA; 23rd in YA
-2017: 22nd in PA; 32nd in YA
-2018: 31st in PA; 27th in YA

Great Run Game? The only season he had a great run game was 2015. Let's look at this year by year:
-2016: 8th in attempts, 24th in yards, 31st in TDs, 28th in YPA
-2017: 26th in attempts, 28th in yards, 27th in TDs, 28th in YPA
-2018: 22nd in attempts, 29th in yards, 26th in TDs, 31st in YPA (Winston was 2nd in rushing yards)

And just because I had a little time before my day starts, I took a peek at special teams/kicking:
-2015(2 kickers) - 25th and 36th of 36
-2016: 33th of 36
-2017: 21st of 35
-2018 (2 kickers): 27th and 29th of 35

In what world are those rankings considered "great?" I went through this little exercise to show that you don't have to explain anything to me. The fact that you said that the Bucs had great defenses and running game shows that your view of things are off. That defense didn't start getting fixed until Arians hired Bowles and even then they struggled early. Teddy Bridgewater got a $60 million contract, in large part, because he destroyed those Bucs. lol

Do tell, what reasons are those?
Andrew Luck is primarily propped by his win percentage but if you actually looked at Luck play and then , their playstyle is way too similar. Andrew Luck is seen as this major "what if" and generational but we never hear anyone bring up his completion percentage (60.8), interceptions (83 INTs in 86 games), passer rating (89.5), sacks (174), ANY/A and everything else associate with QB play.

Now, if you want to dive into a more nuanced conversation about the matter (and it won't just apply to Winston), we can do that over PM....lol

Please, don't question the narrative. This is Blameless Jameis we're talking about here 🤪
Who said anyone is blameless? The problem is too many people can't have an actual football conversation so they have to resort to these type of comments. You can say or feel however you want about me but everything I ever say on here has been balanced and more often than not, I'm right (especially when we talk) because I do my best to remain objective. One day, you will learn that when I told football, I'm not driven by feelings....lol

He also had good receivers, could he play with the receivers the Saints started the last two games?
We might need to start having those tough conversations....lol

In the eyes of his Stans, nothing is ever Jameis' fault. The excuses for everything he's ever criticised for are endless. That's just the level of perspective and accountability you can expect.

The myth of Blameless Jameis remains just that, a myth. A straw man fiction authored by the adoring Stans.

Next set of excuses, deflections and denials incoming in 5... 4... 3...

I honestly don't get why folks are still arguing about Jameis.....I'm a big fan, hope he does well.....I don't think he was ever going to get a fair chance with DA....so he moved on.....and so should we.....

Stop "talking at" and address the point.

The fact that you conflate "was not the biggest issue" with "blameless" speaks less about so called stans...

I honestly don't get why folks are still arguing about Jameis.....I'm a big fan, hope he does well.....I don't think he was ever going to get a fair chance with DA....so he moved on.....and so should we.....
I only address erroneous points because sometimes, it begins to feel like it isn't a "football conversation."

If he could throw a screen pass he would have probably had a long career in New Orleans. But he was basically the polar opposite of Brees who was the dink and dunk GOAT from 2017-2020. There was never going to be a clean transition.
