Jameis Winston played a heck of a game against the Saints!!! (2 Viewers)

yea, for sure that's what fans do is they take what they have witnessed as being great and become spoiled and entitled and assume its now their (fans) standard, and anything less is a disaster. I've been trying to tell Bama fans, that Saban has set a standard at LSU that we've (Lsu fans) unsuccessfully have been trying to recapture. We (LSU fans) are still blinded, and simply and incorrectly assumes that LSU just needs to obtain a roster of 22 DAWGs and we'll be normal again. Its not going to happen. Bama fans, you're going to slowly sink. My point is, sometimes you witness greatness (Saban years), and instead of becoming spoiled and entitled, just appreciate that you've seen it. Because trying to measure up your new players to the great ones will always end in dissapointment.
As a Saban hater, I can appreciate what he brought to Bama, even though I hate everything Bama (and LSU and every other SEC team..lol). Us Auburn fans should have appreciated the 9-4 records we used to get with Gus (even though he ruined Jeremy Johnson).

But I get exactly what you are saying. Spoiled is the only way that we could put it. Crazy thing is some of us still can't be objective regarding the totality of Drew, so we always used the image of Drew we build in our head to compare other QBs to. I called this the "Deification of Drew" a few years back. I appreciate what Winston brought to the table and he will always have a "what if" attached to him here and I appreciate what DC4 is doing. Trying to compare them to Drew was always a disservice to them both, considering we never took into account the stability that Drew (and all other greats) had.

Whether you like the guy or not, Jameis was slinging that ball today and really frustrated me as a fan. I was hoping the defense would get a pick 6 or two today. But gotta give him his flowers, he was poised and led that Browns offense today. I certainly wish him well for the rest of the season.
I always thought he could develop into a viable backup. He has the right attitude and talent. I would’ve liked to have kept him here. But that was another failure by DA.

Based off his 3 games as a starter, his "per 17" is:

5463 yards, 34TDs/17INTs on 63% passing.

Nothing about that say "develop into viable backup." lol

N/S

Opposing QB guided team to 6 drives of 23 yards or less. Lots of passing yards available against a Saints team missing both it's opening day starters at CB.
And 9 drives of less than 20 yards against the Chargers last time out. Only touchdown on the last drive of the game, by that point already behind by three scores. Hard to win games like that.

The Ravens were a tonic three weeks ago, but you can't play the dead last pass defense in the league every week.

It’s odd, as LSU fans were expecting Saban teams year after year, which is ridiculous. We always think we can compete with Bama until we actually play them. With the Saints, it seems the next QB or two gets smoked for just being the guy after the guy. I think Carr is dealing with this too. Otherwise I can’t justify the amount of literal hate he gets, even outside of this forum. So that has to be the reason, that and his rep was tainted by reporters at the time the fans were formulating their opinion. Or they are anti Christ, I’m mostly serious. Maybe because he’s Christian he appears weak to the livid haters. I can understand a level of dislike, becaue he’s not the best Qb ever, but it’s way beyond that. I’d say most likely it’s the Drew effect.

I have always said that JW needed a QB whisperer. Like a Payton or maybe a Ben Johnson. Funny thing is that JW was available in the offseason and SP needed a QB and there was no interest
Maybe there was no interest from Jameis for Payton. Just like the Saints lost nearly ALL their WR, and you couldn't pay Michael Thomas a ton to come back. Sometimes, it's the player who refuses to play for a coach or team.

In my unprofessional opinion he plays too hot and cold to be a starter. For whatever reason most NFL coaches believe he doesn’t have what it takes to start any longer. My point was he can have a career in the NFL as a backup and the Saints could’ve used him this season.

He didn’t put the ball in danger much at all. It did help that we left receivers running free most of the game. Some of them he hit. Some of them he missed. He definitely played a safe game. A lot of yards. Only 14 points.

Winston should be a starter. High risk/reward makes for entertaining football. He is a bridge QB who could get hot and make it tough to move on. He is better than anyone on the Panthers, Raiders, NYG, Tenn, or Cleveland today. If I was NYG, then I'd offer him 6-10M to be a bridge to a drafted QB next year.

I wouldn't want him as our starter.

I think that Carr's issue here was he was presented as a solution to a problem when truth is, that position was the very least of our issues. That came with the fanfare and, at the time, a contract that many weren't feeling. Then the onfield and behind the scenes stuff. It's just been craziness with Carr, if we are being honest.

He is about as hot and cold as Andrew Luck was, but "for reasons," they are seen differently. If he was drafted to the Titans instead of the Bucs, he would probably be seen as one of the best in the league now, because that was a better fit (and actually OK on defense)

Well he’s had 4 ints that were literally in defenders hands and dropped. Same with your logic. Let’s say they hang onto those……he’d be on pace for 40 plus picks.

His problem has always been reckless play resulting in turnovers. He’s played 3 games. And he ALREADY has a 3 INT game. Do any other QBs in the entire league have a 3 INT game??

No im glad you’re being honest, I mean he’s getting some serious hate out there. When we signed Carr my opinion was this, and I can go find it, but I said, I like this guy, because he’s still in a his prime, and he’s got some mobility. I was mentally comparing him to AD. He’s Ad but younger and more mobile, therefore he’s a 75% QB. Where AD was 60% and falling. And considering that there was no one left and we were desperate after missing out on Watson. I also would’ve been alright with Baker because he has the tools and is a little younger. But I knew Carr was our guy because of the DA connection. (They literally stayed in touch since his rookie year). But never did I think we were getting Payton Manning, I will say too, that Carrs actual contract did make him seem slightly more valuable than his play, which could be the reason the fans feel ripped off. So I guess that’s it, the people that hate him, we’re assuming that he was a Drew Brees or something.

I don’t disagree. He could’ve developed into a much better qb, but that’s the case for a lot of players. Would Pat Mahommes be the same qb he is now if he played under one of the scrub coaches?
