I was cooking during the game and missed it live, so after reading some of your assessments, I was expecting that Rizzi really showed his arse and did something reprehensible...

...just watched the clip, and that was a bunch of nothing-burger. Some of y'all are soft. The punter is the last line of defense and gave up a TD (if not for the flag) by simply being undisciplined. The arse-chewing was warranted. He's paid too much to make such a simple mistake.

When you are bad and win games by 3 you can’t give up punt returns for TDs if there wasn’t a penalty we loose that game

Not sure what was wrong with the punt was it bad placement due to a punter going off script or just a bad kick

Bad kick happens kicking to wrong place can be not following the plan and did he earn him on the first punt that that’s not what they are wanting punt wise

As I "read" the play; What Haydall did was not only place the kick in the wrong area but he committed himself, the last line of a return defense, in a bad spot which , had he remained available for the tackle, been able to make a play on the returner~! Watch the play again and let me know what you think of his lack of any tackling angle at all~! THAT was the worst of what Coach Crizzy was making a point of.........

I think the difference is that the punter committed a very bad mental error.

I think dropping easy passes, especially the one AK dropped against Atlanta, are bad mental errors. It's a loss of concentration, not physical. But even if you disagree, Rizzi didn't even act like he did on Sunday when Shaheed muffed a punt inside the 2 yard line against Atlanta which was clearly a bad mental error.

It doesn't mean Rizzi isn't fit to ever be a HC, but it is inconsistent which can lead the issues in the long run as a HC.

Much like others have said, it looked to me like Rizzi was feeling the pressure of playing close to home and trying to win the HC job while his team was playing terrible and he let that pressure get to him and exploded. Hopefully he learns from this.

Did you see him throw his headset down like a 3 year-old? Is that what it takes to not be soft? If so, there are some damn strong 3 year-olds out there.

It's not the arse chewing that is the issue. It's the red faced throwing his headset down that is the problem. I'm not sure how taking issue with a grown man acting like a 3 year-old throwing a temper tantrum is "soft". We all made fun of Brady and called him soft when he threw and broke his Surface Pro. Why the double standard? Just because we like Rizzi?

I think most of us were just happy that a division rival was pissed. Set that aside, and it's a HOF'er with a fist-full of SB rings still passionate about getting more. You gotta respect it.

I think the context here is in how long the chewout lasted over a play that didn’t count. Rizzi’s in charge of everything now, he can’t go so long on one player like that.

Ah, another one of those “he gets a paycheck so it’s ok to be disrespectful to him” guys. The dude makes league minimum. He’s the bottom rung of football players and he’s a rookie. He only even started playing American football so he could get a scholarship and has a Masters Degree from Vanderbilt. Regardless, he was the only guy Rizzi screamed at on Sunday because Rizzi knew which guy he could flex on to look tough in front of his hometown crowd and more importantly which guys he couldn’t flex on.

Payton chewed guys out yes but Rizzi did look a little... unhinged... To me and I don't remember Payton ever looking that same way.

To be fair Rizzi looks a little unhinged at all times. He's clearly an emotional guy. Sometimes that plays well and sometimes it doesn't. I'd be interested to hear a player's perspective on the matter. Maybe it was partly intentional to display a little emotion and "hold someone accountable" when those were such big issues under Allen. Maybe it was for show in that sense, just to demonstrate that he cares or something? Whether it was a good or bad call though I have no idea (in terms of player reception)

Yeah, I didn't see him all red faced, throwing down his headset and yelling in AK's face when he dropped a sure TD pass against the Falcons a few weeks ago that could have cost us the game.

But AK isn't in "his unit". Some coaches legitimately expect the best out of their group- and when something like technique and protocol breaks down due to someone abandoning their responsibility on a given play, the guys who are all about "protocol" are gonna lose their minds lol

I'm not saying he didn't lose his mind a little too much (on the surface), but i don't think it's a fair comparison when he clearly still considers the ST to be his unit that he's fully responsible for, even moreso than the rest of the team. TBH- to Rizzi, I'm sure a punter like Hayball is the perfect guy to blow up on if you're trying to demonstrate that you're capable of showing some emotion and getting on someone's tail when they mess up like he did. It probably takes a while for a coach to change how they hold "their guys" accountable or confront them when an in-season elevation happens like this year.

Payton and Belichick have both shown the same level of anger, so have many other successful and unsuccessful coaches. That's an objective fact. Whether or not it's acceptable is completely a subjective opinion that doesn't matter to me one way or another.

I do find it odd that some of the same people who cheer vicious hits, turn around to boo a coach for verbally yelling at someone. Seems like a pretty whacked value system to me, but that's just my subjective opinion.

You are missing the point, nothing wrong with dressing down a player that makes a big mistake. It's the level that Rizzi took it. He looked out of control, so much so that I don't think he knew there was a flag on the play. So much that AK had to come over and tell him to chill. That's a HC that let his emotions get the best of him. You show me a video of Payton or Belichick throwing down a headset and hat red faced with hysteria yelling at a punter.
