Just another day in New Orleans (1 Viewer)

Neither justifies the other. It aint cute...at all.

I am sick and tired of feeling used and abused as a peaceful tax paying citizen who just wants to go to work, raise my family and love my neighbor. I hate having to weigh the balance of raising my children away from their immediate family versus eating the abuse here in town every...freakin...year. It's wrong. This is not how a city of this 'status' should be.

Now, I realize that we voted this immoral and corrupt ignoramus into office. That's a cultural problem. But at what point do the sane people cut bait and move to no where, America to have a fighting chance of something resembling a fair shake? Mardi Gras and the Saints aren't enough to make up for the deficiencies anymore.
What’s wild about Teedy is that citizens gave her 3 votes of confidence (2 elections and 1 recall). Hate to think it for you hermano, but the citizens of New Orleans are being hoisted by their own petard.

When I lived in NYC my dad used to tell me all about the kind of mayor David Dinkins was - this is pre-internet, so he wasn’t getting any local news perspective
When I’d visit there wasn’t wall to wall coverage in the T-P or local/national news
I’m pretty certain he was getting all his info from O’reilly

Latoya essentially ran unopposed for second term and the recall effort failed bc organizers botched it from jump

None of what you wrote is informed or helpful

I don’t know your dad, nor do I feel qualified to speak on David Dinkins. I do however know hundreds of people like @Brennan77, and I know how sheetty a person Cantrell is.

She has won 2 elections and beat a recall because there are a fork ton of retards in the city, and not enough people like @Brennan77 capable of defeating stupid when the city is keeping the stupids pacified.

God spread those of you living through her crap administration.

Are you deliberately missing the point?
No, I think you are.

Citizens of the city are talking about how crappy it is, and some idiots are telling them “go see how things are done in other parts.” What a big middle finger to the people putting up with Teedy’s mess.

Go tell the kids waiting on their pay checks for the city “hey, it could be worse.”

I'm gonna just throw 2 things in. One, what other cities are doing is irrelevant. It's a red herring and isn't the standard by which to judge what's happening in NOLA. We need to judge the city based on how the city should be.

Two, not everything wrong with the city is because of Cantrell or the city government. There are a lot of issues, economics, cultural, structural and history that has contributed to where the city stands right now. That said, turning the city around has to start with the city government and the local leadership. There's been a clear absence of leadership, and outright corruption for decades. That has to end if the city is ever going to overcome the systemic problems that exist.

As it sits right now, I'm not sure anything changes until the city government is completely revamped.

Yes it’s a bad tree
The forest is much much worse
Focusing on a clown who doesn’t really have the power to move the needle a significant amount (and I REALLY wish some other clown was doing it) while not contextualizing that state is orders of magnitude worse seems targeted

Hopefully you read some of bclemms discussions of Jackson city and the **** things the state does advertently and inadvertently to ‘punish’ the city
It’s not a 1:1 comparison but there are many similar elements that a person who was concerned about NO citizens would want to consider

.
Not drawing a direct parallel, but I am questioning your analogy- if your kids brought home a 70, you’d probably be a bit upset and you’d question all the reasons your kid brought home a poor grade
If you found out all the other kids in class got a 70, wouldn’t you at least have some questions about the test or the structure of of the class?

I don’t give two squirts about what is happening in Jackson City. This thread is about New Orleans. Living in New Orleans, and seeing what has been going on since Teedy took office is a mess.

The woman has no self awareness, nor does her staff, and the citizens of the city get to suffer the repercussions.

I get what you're saying, but I don't think it applies here.

But what you are missing is what happens at a state level that forces the city in a perennial "bad situation"

There is no synergy between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Never has been. Rest of State doesn't care much for New Orleans for a myriad of reasons and I've lived here all my life knowing this.

So yeah she is terrible. We all know this. Beating a dead horse. But Baton Rouge helps none.
