Just another day in New Orleans (3 Viewers)

I wonder…if mom presses charges, will he prosecute?

Assuming they can actually ID and then arrest someone, he would likely bring in someone from outside his office to prosecute the case, but that's just a guess.

All kidding aside I hope thats what happens. Sorry for his mom.

As for Jason, I'm sorry they took his $80,000 SUV but glad they recovered it.

He would soon tell police that he knew why they'd been able to find him so quickly, according to the records. As a detective was reading Rochon his Miranda rights, he allegedly said: "I know why y'all are here," according to the records. "Y'alls people" had been "got."

18 years old with 7 warrants out on him

I mean this is kind of a “no shirt sherlock” interview but refreshing to see the DA has changed his line of thinking despite potential backlash. I’m sure he has changed his stance on a few issues due to the carjacking, political posturing, and common sense. I have no dog in the fight because i don’t live in New Orleans anymore but it’s a little optimism. He mentions how he came to some of his stances due to listening to the youth and families on the ground that have to deal with the violence day to day. I believe that to some extent. I think most people are good and we are finally seeing the tipping point to where those trying to do right are fighting back by simply speaking up.

Thanks for posting this - I hadn't seen this interview. My wife has known Jason since law school and while neither of us have ever been overly impressed by him (an old boss of mine had a saying - "If you buy him for what he's worth then sell him for what he thinks he's worth, you'd make a lot of money") but we need him to succeed. So credit to him for changing course and explaining why. Watching someone point a gun at his mom maybe clarified some things for him too.

FWIW the former NYPD consultants that were brought 18 months ago seem to be paying some dividends in terms of focusing LE resources on the highest priority/most violent offenders.
