Just another day in New Orleans (1 Viewer)

Thanks for posting this - I hadn't seen this interview. My wife has known Jason since law school and while neither of us have ever been overly impressed by him (an old boss of mine had a saying - "If you buy him for what he's worth then sell him for what he thinks he's worth, you'd make a lot of money") but we need him to succeed. So credit to him for changing course and explaining why. Watching someone point a gun at his mom maybe clarified some things for him too.

FWIW the former NYPD consultants that were brought 18 months ago seem to be paying some dividends in terms of focusing LE resources on the highest priority/most violent offenders.
They had to pay people to tell them that?

Perhaps I should open a consulting company. People whose house is on fire could pay me to tell them to spray water on the fire instead of painting the walls.

I think there was a lot more to it and a ton of organizational changes too, but yeah, it doesn’t seem like rocket science.

I think the consent decree was needed but over time it’s created some misguided incentives and been weaponized inside the department for people to play favorites, etc.. Bad culture. I think they’re starting to crawl out of some of those holes. But it’s baby steps.

Wait... Badon is on Landry's committee? :biglol:
The New Orleans committee will be headed by shipping magnate and Landry donor Boysie Bollinger. In addition to Badon and Henry, sources said Landry has asked Louisiana Restaurant Association President Stan Harris; visitors bureau New Orleans & Co. President Walt Leger; Chairman of Louisiana Board of International Commerce Greg Rusovich; business and economic development group GNO Inc. President Michael Hecht; and Democratic state Sen. Royce Duplessis.

Hecht and Leger are fine - they are obviously coming at things from a biz/economic development standpoint but they are at least serious people. Same for Rusovich although he's pretty much a JP guy.

Inviting JP Sheriff Lopinto but nobody from NOPD is hilariously on brand.

One of the men on the list is my former employer. I had to sue him for commissions I was never paid. $120k I was owed, and I wouldn’t have been paid had I not legally threatened him.
