Marquez Callaway (2 Viewers)

I hope it's not the dreaded high ankle sprain. I hope it's something that a little rest and a good tape job will get him back on the field.

Calloway said in his post game interview that he was "All Good", but we will see on Wednesday when the injury report comes out.
By the way he's standing & moving, seems to me like it's onto Chicago with him. Marquez has a bright future here & I like his attitude in regards to wearing #12.

It looked more of a traditional ankle roll (inside), as it got rolled up on. High ankle sprains usually happen when the ankle is bent outwards.

Sucked to see him leave the game cause he was playing so well and should of had a TD if not called back for a crappy OPI.

The way he left it seemed pretty bad but hopefully it's just an sprained ankle.

U have not watched the past few games. I understand.
Lol you’ve quoted a post made months ago...

also I have indeed. He’s done his job. But I stand by what I said. Need more than a couple of games before we act like he’s the second coming of Marques Colston bruh.

Ohh, gotcha! Now that makes sense. LOL

Believe it or not Colston was faster in terms of straight line speed, but he is more elusive in short areas

Colston was an underrated athlete based on his size. But he was more of a glider. He rarely ran his routes at full speed...he just had such good body control and route running that he was able to create enough separation to win contested passes. Callaway is definitely a quicker guy than Colston...but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. It's unfair to compare Callaway to Colston, because Colston was one of the great receivers in franchise history. Heck, it would have been unfair to even compare a rookie Michael Thomas to Colston early on. But you definitely see the traits, work-ethic, and humble way of doing business that draws comparisons.

Drew has found his rhythm with TQS, Sanders and now Callaway. Last year it was just MT and Cook.

I think not having MT and Sanders made the defense play even and not double anyone except maybe Alvin who's going to win anyway. Drew will carve that up all day. His first read was more open because Carolina didn't treat Callaway like MT. Now that Drew is getting comfortable with his other receivers, it might be a death sentence to double Mike. What's going to hold us up, as it has in years past, is injuries on the O-line. When there are too many weapons to cover and a surgeon like Drew throwing to them, your best bet to bring as much pressure as you can. This is what killed us against the Vikings last year.

I thought he was pretty great. he does look slow returning kicks, but consistently got good return yardage, so no worries there.

the play that impressed me the most is when he got that pass on the sideline a couple yards short of the first down, and instead of going out of bounds he just lowered his head and took the defender past the sticks. great football play there.

He's a long strider but I can see how some interpret "slow" on his returns.

Callaway is hardly slow though.

So what happened on that OPI that wiped out Callaway's TD? It looked to me like TQS was just running his route -- I didn't see a pick. Am I wrong?
It was an iffy call at best, but I can see why it was called if the ref wasn't looking directly at them when it happened. Sucks for Callaway, who should have had two TDs and over 100yds if not for circumstances that were out of his control.

No, it was a TERRIBLE call. The in game announcers and their rules analyst agreed, terrible call.
