Yeah, the pitting of one vs the other bugs me. I like them both and they each bring a lot to the table and suspect they'll be All-Stars in the next season or 2. Supporting one doesn't mean we gotta tear down the other.

There are a lot of people online who claim to be all about the WNBA and the growth of the league, but all of their content boils down to really ugly Caitlyn Clark vs Angel Reese stuff, with both players getting a lot of unnecessary flack.

It’s really unfortunate and I don’t think it helps the WNBA at all. It isn’t a wonderful Magic vs Bird rivalry right now; it is just fans being really mean and ugly, who are getting in the way of such a potential professional rivalry.

I was a Reggie Miller fan back in the day. Him and Jordan had a good rivalry together. It was fun wacthing them 2 play against each other.
Its a shame the fans are ruining a good potential rivalry.

That seems really weird to me (I am NOT saying you are making this argument).

College is such a small window of time, you can’t really build around a specific player due to recruiting/transfers/graduations, and basketball also has a 1-and-done tournament.

National championships are great, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t really see how they have any bearing on a pro career (especially since Clark and Reese both went really far in the tournament the past 2 years).

There was a glaring hatred for Reese 2 years ago after they played against each other in the NC. Reese's hand gesture triggered a lot of people and the still hate her for it.
I think Clark is a great player, but the one thing that irks me about her is her wanting to cry so much during the games, but if you watched her in College, she was the same way. so many times i saw her not defend after a TO because he was too busy crying to the ref. But other than that, she is an excellent player and hopefully grow out of it...

Totally agree, it's gamesmanship (or gameswomanship in this case).....the same folks legit freaking out (because the sports media knows this but disingenuously hypes it up) about this would be shocked if they went to see a high level U-15 girls soccer match.....

That whole "outrage" against Reese was and is total BS.....

What i don't understand is why the hate for either Clark or Reese (not from here).
If you go find any post on Facebook about Reese, half of the comments are bashing her while taling up Clark. I just don't get it.. I mean, i know where some of it comes from when the word Thug and stuff like that comes out, but thats a converstion for another thread, then it turns into a Reese vs Clark converstion.

I think it's just a symptom of everything has to be a hot take now. You can't just sit back and enjoy both players you have to pick a side an defend it tooth and nail and tear down the other player no matter what. It's even worse with Jordan/Lebron. I love both players but online if one is brought up you inevitably have 10 people commenting tearing the other player down and comparing them to the other when the initial post/story had nothing to do with the other.

there are so many weird things that a lot of her fans bring. i don't get it honestly..
of course you can't blame Clark for crazy people latching on to her. it almost like a lot of those people are using her to show their hate towards a lot of WNBA players (ala black and/or lesbian). so many fake AI posts just brings them out in droves, but i am not sure they really care about Clark more than the hate they spew..

CC averaging 17.9 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 8.5 APG (leads league), 1.4 steals, 0.8 blks,

AR averaging 13.5 PPG, 12.9 RPG (leads league), 1.8 APG, 1.3 steals, 0.6 blks

They are both on pace to set season records for total assists (CC) and total rebounds (AR) - that's league record, not rookie record. CC was named Rookie of the Month is May and July, Angel was Rookie of the Month for June.

I watched them both a few times over the past few weeks and - to me - CC is getting better and edging into the MVP conversation. Nobody is catching Aja Wilson but she will finish in top 3 or 4 IMO. Since the break she is averaging 25 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 9 APG -- still has a lot of TOs but her turnover/assist ratio continues to improve.

AR is a rebounding freak unlike anything I've seen since Rodman but her offense is just hard to watch. Chicago really needs someone to grab the reigns on offense (like CC -imagine that combo) so that it doesn't have to run through Angel, who will grab every rebound but just chuck the ball towards the rim.

Vegas has CC as a heavy favorite at (-5000) with Angel at +1500.

I don’t watch enough WNBA to know, but why was CC left off the Olympic squad? Were there really that many players better than her? Deadly shooter to go along with leading the league in assists. Why wouldn’t you want that on your squad?
