N/S Pats fans going off on Cooks and Brady (1 Viewer)

Why so combative??

It's ok for people to disagree with each other.

lol I'm not being combative, I'm doing just that....stating my opinion.

Ellias seems like a pretty cool dude but I get the feeling he's trying to prove how much more he knows than everyone else in every single post he types. Rubs me raw some days....this just happens to be one of those days. :hihi:

Haha you aren't very good at this :smilielol:
Neither are you actually. You never made an absolute statement, so you basically created a strawman argument. Moreover, he said he was good at intermediate and deep routes which the gifs show. Plus, picking out a half dozen gifs is a classic cherry pick argument.

I always thought Cooks was potentially explosive as a receiver. I wasn't too fond of the gadget stuff. He seemed ill-suited for it. He had his moments for sure.

Hey, I got Cooks in FF and WR3. He's doing great. What do the Pats fans have to complain about? :mwink:

Playoffs start next week. As long as he puts up 15 points per game, it was a great trade :worthy:

"Strawman":covri: lol

He contradicted himself in consecutive posts. He said Cooks couldn't get separation, or wasn't "good at it" to be exact, then I proceeded to post gifs of him getting separation, making difficult catches, and avoiding tackles and taking it to the house. So I think I proved my point. Oh and there were plenty more examples of Cooks making plays, I just don't have all day to post them.

It's not my job to prove his opinions on the subject....it's his.

In sports commentary, when someone writes someone is not good or is good at something then the term is used in a relative sense, not an absolute one. In sports, you can never say never or any other "absolute" term. No athlete "never" do something or "always" do something. This is why you made a strawman argument; you took a relative term, made it absolute, then cherry-picked gifs to "prove him wrong." And yes, I have no doubt you can find more gifs. We know how many catches he made.

His main point was that Cooks utility was declining, thus his role in the offense was far less than we hoped. Even at that, he was satisfied. I think in the end, this is what he going to be for his career.

So you came across an opinion that is different from yours, aren't happy with it and posted a bunch of gifs that you thought proved your opinion to be correct.

But be honest, you're doing more than stating your opinion. You read his opinion, didn't like it, combated it with your own (including moving pics) to prove your point and were laughing and telling him "you aren't very good at this :smilielol:".

Which is ok, but at least be real about it. That's being combative.

and there are many more.....you guys are trippin'. Cooks is a great receiver and I hated to see him go.

Ellias is a great poster but he has always had it in for Cooks. He likes to bring up the comparisons to Steve Smith when in reality there is no comparison. At the same age Smith couldn't hold Cooks jock and it really isn't close.

As for Ellias saying that Cooks couldn't get separation that is hogwash. Two longest tds in football last year say differently.

My only critique of his play was that he wasn't angry enough. Athletically he's similar to Smith but Smith just had this permanent state of anger while on the field. Last year you saw it in Cooks from time to time but it was mostly after he was taken out for a few plays then put back in. Maybe CSP was trying to intentionally piss him off. Anyway, I've come around on the trade and wish dude the best, except when....

the Pats didn't have anyone to streak down the field to draw safeties and that was why they traded for Cooks. And that is what they got. Nothing more and nothing less.

In my first statement I will imply I have no ulterior motives

In my second statement I will show my ulterior motives
