I rthink DA was hired to be an "interim" coach until cap is fixed. Just playing with overthecap.com, June 1 could give us a lot of relief if Cam, DD, and honey badger retire.

The problem is, we are doing nothing to fix the cap.

Injuries, illness etc happen in sports. More so in football. Its literally the coaches job to coach up players, and gameplan to put players in position to succeed.

Its very, very clear that neither has been happening outside of the secondary since DA took over. The depth in our team has declined every year under Dennis Allen. Most starters play have been steadily declining yearly since Dennis Allen took over. The niners were ate up with injuries for their starters and still won some games, nearly beat the Chiefs too. The Chiefs lost their starting WR's, RB's and still found ways to win.

Good coaches find ways to win. Bad coaches find excuses why they can't.

Yall need to stop comparing HCs/teams from 50 years ago. Thats a half century. The game has highly evolved since then.

I kind of wonder if Loomis is hanging on to Allen to spite the national media who all had Allen ranked at the bottom of their coach rankings and numerous had Allen as the betting favorite to be the first coach fired in 2024.

The Jets releasing Saleh ended up being the first major coaching move - but also, that move hasn’t led to any change in the Jets fortunes.

So perhaps Loomis is being stubborn or maybe he’s thinking “what good will it do?”

Either way, it’s a drag.

We always say that he can field a good defense, but does he really? I do not care about total defense ranking as that is just yards and means absolutely nothing.

When talking about defenses let's talk about points given up. His average for PPG on defense when he was the D coordinator only was 16th in the league. He finished top 5 twice, he finished 24th or below 4 times.

Turnovers. Since 2016 we rank in the bottom 3rd of the league in turnovers.

Our defense this year is dead last in total defense and 25th in points.

He is an above average D coordinator but he is far from good or great.

I'll be honest, if this milquetoast dweeb with all the charisma of a wet paper towel is back next season, I'll be done till he's gone. I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt that maybe Carmichael really was forced on him by Loomis, but I'm not seeing anything different from DA when the going gets tough. • The former bullet discourages other coaches from taking the job, knowing they could get canned mid-season, increasing the likelihood of getting a lesser, less capable, desperate for a promotion coach since coveted coaches, and up and coming coaches will have offers from more stable front offices
• A new coach mid season isn't going to suddenly turn your team into a playoff contender, making the playoffs. They could however rejuvinate the team short-term, winning some games but nothing relevant to becoming a stable team (example, Raiders last year with Pierce). The logical thing to do is stick with the original head coach, get a great, very valuable draft pick that will help entice high profile would-be-head-coaches to take the job after releasing the original head coach when the season is over.

The only defense I’ll give DA on that whole thing is that we shouldn’t have lined up in kneel down formation. That could’ve gotten someone hurt.

But on the flip side, the players wouldn’t have felt the need to do that if DA hadn’t told them to kneel in the first place.
