Now we have to roll with Hill. (1 Viewer)

She is reporting what Payton said.

And, as noted above, Payton has already said several times that Siemian is the #2 in case of injury during a game, but Hill is the man with a week to prepare.
If Payton said that, then fine. But I still can’t see him rolling with Hill the rest of the season. He might. I’d just be extremely nervous every week

There's no if, Payton definitely said it in his press conference.

Prepare yourself to be extremely nervous for at least a few weeks.

I think given the circumstances of not realizing you were going to take a single snap in the biggest regular season game so far and being thrown into the fire he did incredibly well. I'd like to see what he can do with a full week of preparation knowing that he will be playing in the next game. I have no grand expectations that he's our guy or the next Drew Bree's but simply living in the moment we did just beat an incredibly good team, mistakes yes, but a W is a W.

We all love Hill for what he is but a starting QB he is not.

That’s if he clears protocol.
He'll eventually clear protocol and when he does, he'll be the starting QB.

If the roles were reversed between Hill and Winston, anyone being this critical and resistent to the idea of Winston as the starting QB would be called a Winston hater and not a true Saints fan.

Instead of fans, sports followers should be called hyps.

The most impressive thing about Taysom is he’s phenomenal running the ball on designed runs but he’s useless on scrambles. Rarely does it and has no feel for pass rush.

People know Hill’s sample size. Dude can’t make it through his progressions without trying to run. But it is what it is. I liked what I saw out of Semien. Give him first shot.

The one thing I hate about Taysom Hill as the quarterback is that He literally bunny hops in the pocket way too much… Never giving him a chance to plant his feet to make an accurate throw.

The first touchdown by James Winston today… I don’t think Hill makes that throw

Yeah and now w/ that OL being a little shaky it's going to be tough but I root for Hill as I root for the team so we'll see.

Payton doesn't share that opinion.
Which is fine and I do not pretend to be a professional football coach and I will be the first to line up and eat crow. But going off of what we have seen when he has had his opportunities he simply has not proven himself, there is a reason Jameis started this season and NOT Taysom.

I remember earlier in the season several fans insisting that it takes more than 4 games to know how good a player can be at QB and that QB's can get better with more experience. Yet somehow that doesn't apply to Hill, just Winston?

The thing is, your opinion and my opinion don't matter to Payton at all. He doesn't even know what our opinions are.

Based on what Payton has consistently said and done, you should prepare yourself to be extremely nervous for a least a few games with Hill as the starting QB. More likely than not, it's going to happen. I don't think anyone can wish it away.

We have more than 4 games w/ Taysom as the QB if you count the preseason games.

Hill has had years under Payton and Brees. There was a reason Payton chose Teddy. There was a reason Payton chose Winston. He had two chances after Brees. He didn’t pass the total QB muster.
