Ryan Clark Calls Sean Payton a Thug (2 Viewers)

Which is also why Winston and Payton would've never worked. Remember the pass Winston was trying to throw away out of the back of the endzone...and instead was miraculously caught? From what I recall, Payton was not happy despite the outcome.

Payton and Winston could have worked. That pass was a terrible decision. A bad play is a bad play, and Payton holding Winston accountable like that is why Winston was so insanely efficient in the brief time he was playing for Payton.

Payton always yelled at Brees when Brees threw late interceptions when the Saints were winning by so much it had no impact on the outcome.

Payton had standards and didn't compromise them regardless of who the player was. That was why the team loved, feared, and respected him.

Lol Payton could never have tolerated Winston's boneheaded decisions for a full season

Neither was I watching the game. I knew that pass would be completed 5% of the time at best. High chance for bad things to happen.

How many quarters did he play under Payton?

He played 27 quarters and was the best he's ever been in his career during that time. The facts and stats that we got from Winston's starts in 2021 show Winston was efficient, wasn't a turnover machine, and the Saints were winning.

So please, go on tell me more about your OPINION and how it will debunk these facts. It is very entertaining.

Not just that, he was legitimately top-10 in nearly every QB stat and metric at the time of injury. We legit had people saying Siemian was better...lol. Crazy times..

Homey won’t even reply to me.
Dang.... 😶
But things like this is what I was talking to StudioSaint about in the Juwan Johnson thread. We can talk about the good, bad, and ugly that happens on the field but let's tell the truth about what happened/happens on the field. It's so much stuff that just don't match reality, it's crazy. This is how we know that although stats are "similar," there is no similarities in the play of Russ and Jameis. Film clearly shows it and metrics back it up.

I guess you missed or ignored that the Saints with JW were 4-2, actually 5-2 if you include the game he missed with a WR corp that featured Calloway and Harty. 14-3 TD-INT ratio which is outstanding and his passing yardage and TD's were increasing/improving as the season went on......So, of course, there is no reason to think he would have continued improving under CSP, unless you are a moron or willfully ignorant.....

The only categories he was THAT much better in was efficiency with the TD to INT ratio. And since he was throwing the ball HALF as much as he was in Tampa Bay...that should be expected (and was probably by design from Payton.) Based on Winston's per-game numbers between here and when he was in Tampa Bay, Payton seemed to have him on a short leash. He either didn't trust him or he was still trying to figure out his strengths/weaknesses. However, since Payton only had Winston for a total of 8 games, it's too small of a window to fully know that answer imo. Could he have kept up attempting only 16 passes per game? Possibly...but unlikely. First, the teams they played during that stretch had a combined 10-9 record so it's a luxury they could afford. Secondly, the lowest attempts per game that season were by Seattle with 29...almost twice that (highest was Tampa Bay with 49.)

The numbers below are based on per-game averages at Tampa Bay and under Payton in New Orleans. As you can see, Winston was only attempting half the passes per game that he did in Tampa Bay.

Teddy Bridgewater was 5-1 as a starter. Taysom Hill is 7-2. Should either of those be a full time starter? See? It's easy to cherry pick!

It makes me wonder what their plan is at QB too. Do they already know who they can get as his replacement? There really is no coming back from this, so they better have a good plan to replace him.

SP is in love with Caleb Williams. Don’t be surprised if they do a blockbuster trade for the Bears #1 pick.
