Which is also why Winston and Payton would've never worked. Remember the pass Winston was trying to throw away out of the back of the endzone...and instead was miraculously caught? From what I recall, Payton was not happy despite the outcome.
Payton and Winston could have worked. That pass was a terrible decision. A bad play is a bad play, and Payton holding Winston accountable like that is why Winston was so insanely efficient in the brief time he was playing for Payton.
Payton always yelled at Brees when Brees threw late interceptions when the Saints were winning by so much it had no impact on the outcome.
Payton had standards and didn't compromise them regardless of who the player was. That was why the team loved, feared, and respected him.
