Saints at the top of Davante Adams’ wish list [Raiders trade Adams to Jets for conditional 3rd ; Jets paying Adams’ entire remaining salary] (4 Viewers)

We’re talking about trades, not drafting. But with the way the line is playing, I would not hate drafting at least three O linemen next year.
Talking about trades, there aren't any OL I'm aware of to trade for. There are a couple of possible WRs out there wanting to be traded. We should at least doing due diligence to see if they're viable options. Trading for a WR doesn't prevent the team from addressing OL next draft.

It does if you trade away the pick you would draft OL with. :idunno:

We will probably be 2-5 by the time Davante even gets to see the field, let alone play with Carr.

I was all for getting him, but this just seems stubborn now.

Draft capital should be paramount for a team in our position.

They aren't miracle workers. If they were automatic solutions, they would have already been on the field. We should not set our expectations too high for either.
Psst, there is more of a chance that their mobility is the solution as there is for Adams to make a difference in pass blocking.

Lol, there are 6 other rounds. And there are other potential moves we can make between now and then. Trading a 3rd or 4th isn't going to keep them from doing anything if they want to.

If we're 2-5 I might agree with you, but we're not yet. I'll wait and see how these 2 games go.

I used to think drafting O line was the most boring thing ever. It's still not like jump out of your seat doing fist pumps and doing high fives but I love it. Now it's more like a dramatic slow nod of approval and appreciation.

Call me a nut job but I wouldn't mind using a draft every few years just throwing bodies at the O & D lines. Build up a 2 deep that could handle an injury. Having good/great play in the trenches just makes everything so much easier. Having a great WR is awesome but if the QB can't get a pass off then what are we talking about? Having a good Secondary is great but if the D line can't get after the passer then it doesn't matter. You could have Deion and Rod Woodson at Corner but in today's game with no pass rush they're going to get cooked.

That's all well and good, but the league is driven by playmakers, so drafts need to be balanced. You need sufficient talent at all positions, so we won't every see any team go all OL/DL in a given draft. Even the best teams are always looking for more playmakers at the skill positions.

I do agree that we need to improve the line depth significantly in order to remain competitive when a starter goes down to injury.

Their mobility will be an asset behind this line as would the fact that Rattler is used to playing behind a terrible OL. But, they both have no real NFL experience so that mobility could lead to some bad decisions and bad interceptions on broken plays. I think long term a QB that can move around and throw off platform and off schedule is essential in the modern NFL, but I'm not sure either of these guys is yet ready to do it.

But, I do hope that Rattler gets a shot and that he turns out to be ready and has a great game. Because being set at QB with a cheap young, mobile QB, that can create plays would change the future of this team. If we have that, then making trades for guys like Adams would make more sense IMO. Of course, they would also need to give any young QB a better OL first.

The same would be true of Haener, but I don't think he has the upside of Rattler.

There are, but drafts don't usually fall where the guy you want at the position you need is there at the pick you have. The more needs you have and the more picks you have they better chance you have at getting the player that can solve that problem. A 31 year old WR with a busted contract doesn't solve the most glaring problems we're facing right now.

It's all psychological.

We watch drafts in a similar way that we watch games. We crave football that time of year, and what makes us jump up and give high fives during football games? Players making plays with the ball in their hands. So naturally, those are the exciting picks, especially when after the pick they show said player scoring touchdowns and the crowd going wild, reminding us of the best parts of Sundays and giving us visions of said player doing those same things in our team's uniform.

Meanwhile, your favorite team picks an offensive linemen, and there are no crowd shots after he makes big plays during the highlight package, most of the clips are of him just being technically sound, and when was the last time you jumped up and every high-fived anyone at a game because your team's LT had a technically sound "+" rep?

Offensive linemen are boring picks for sure because they do nothing exciting...but when you hit on one and see him nailing down the spot with ease like Fuaga has, you sure are glad you made the investment.

Well, there's more than one way to build a winning team. We disagree on how to get there. It's all good. :9:
