The argument that Kamara was picked in the 3rd round stands on 1 leg and can be easily swiped out from under anyone. Tom Brady was picked in the 5th or 6th, yet we all know good and well that any realistic shot at finding a franchise QB will happen in the first round, maybe early 2nd.

And while its hard to imagine, RB isn't that far off. Most good, dependable, starting RB talent is found in the first or second. Now, there is a solid argument that each draft has 2x, maybe even 4x more good RB's then QB's, which explains why RB's tend to drop in the draft until there is a run. It's no secret that QB's, LT's, CB's and Pass Rushers are more coveted (not in any specific order). But its easy to argue that a good RB is necessary.

I think RB is absolutely necessary. And if a Jeanty talent lands in your lap, you have to take it. Brooks would've had no shot at all without Deuce. Defenses never planned to stop Brooks, they planned for Deuce which put Brooks in a much better position to succeed. And perhaps most people may have forgotten, but LaDainian Tomlinson was a massive factor in Brees starting off his career well. Teams were constantly loading 8 in the box against him and that level of early success, and teams planning for the RB over the QB, really helps set up QB's for success early in their career playing a major factor in learning and confidence.

And the simple truth is, relying on a 32 year old RB as a bell cow is a recipe for disaster. So whether its this offseason, or the next we have to address RB. If Jeanty lands in our laps, it's debatably foolish to not take him. And the 10th pick doesn't matter. Adrian Peterson and LT were both taken top 5, and fans of both teams, as well as player personal don't regret taking either one.

Then what happens if we get trade offers for someone to move up for him? well, we have to weigh the value. Getting a few picks, and being able to take Skattebo plus some talent on Oline could arguably be more beneficial to us, assuming those draft picks work out.

RBs are often found in the middle rounds so you should stop trying to sweep the leg, Johnny. And you are assuming this guy is LT, Peterson, Sanders, Faulk, etc. and I don't think he is.

I'd much rather trade back for extra picks and take someone like Skateboo or Judkins if he comes out.

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see it. He's powerful and fast but I don't see the balance and wiggle of the truly elite guys. He's not Marshall Faulk, Barry Sanders, or Thurman Thomas. I don't even think he's Saquon Barkley or Alvin Kamara.

I don't know what you're looking for. His contact balance is next level. He's extremely powerful. I've seen some DL hit him and fall straight down from how much power he packs. He's hit 22 mph in game this season. The guy is legit.

And lets not forget, he did it without 1 offensive lineman projected to be taken in the draft this year or next (at least to my knowledge).

And those RB's you think we can find in the middle rounds very often are not good enough to carry an offense on their back the way Jeanty can. Just like most any position picked in the 3rd or 4th round often can’t carry their team .

Jeanty is a lock to be a franchise player, and any franchise player is worth a top 10 pick regardless of position so long its offense or defense.

And those RB's you think we can find in the middle rounds very often are not good enough to carry an offense on their back the way Jeanty can. I get it, Kamara was a 3rd round pick. Im sure it'll be just as easy to find another Kamara, or even Tom Brady in the 5th or 6th.

He also did it against Mountain West Defenses. Most of the teams they played had no defensive players projected to be taken early in the draft (to my knowledge).

Mid-round or lower RBs carry the load all the time in the NFL. Especially in the Shanhan/Kubiak system going all the way back to at least Terrell Davis who was a 6th round pick.

And he is not a lock to be a franchise player.

Boy, he was fun to watch yesterday. I think it's reasonable to question whether or not his game will translate to the NFL level, however.

I doubt he will be the kind of runner he is in college, but I do think he could play fullback and get more carries than the average FB as an effective power runner. I'm thinking a better version of Jacob Hester.

Yep, I was thinking about the guy in SF (not even going to try to spell his name lol) but those guys do not usually get drafted until the late rounds if at all. Rooting for him though, he is a beast.

Those guys were picked in a different era when backs were valued more draft-wise. A great back can last a lot lower in today’s era.

That being said, though I get your side of the argument, I do maintain that Jeanty could be a good pick, but it would need to occur only in the event his final scouting grade is that of a player-type you mentioned above.

I agree and I don't think it should be a WR. We're way to weak in the middle of the field which is why I either want Jeanty or Tyler Warren. Tetairoa McMillan would also serve to some degree but is always highly reliant on QB which is inconsistent for us, while Tyler Warren would at least help block in run plays and runs with the ball hard like Taysom Hill after the catch which is a massive bonus for our short game, long game and red zone, and Jeanty is self explanatory.
