Anyone else watching this new series on Syfy?

I thought the first episode was a bit dull (character intros etc) but I usually wait until episode 4 or so before I write off a new series. Episode 2 warmed up but episode 3 and 4 was like wow, you now have my full attention!

Any Syfy buffs out there would do well to watch this new series.

Naomi being outside for the 1st time ever got me choked up
I got choked up in the frickin trailer
I haven't seen this show (although I am planning to), but this post reminded me of a short story by Ray Bradbury called All Summer in a Day and the 30 minute PBS show that was made from it.

it always stuck with me and I always think of it when I see something in the news about bullying in schools

so the book does some good work with indicating what changes the body would go through growing up in low artificial gravity (among other 'sciency' things)
1st season doesn't do that much with those ideas ( a lot bc the visuals - 'belters' are MUCH taller and thinner - and the show just did not have that kind of budget at the beginning) - but ever since then it's sprinkled a lot of 'real science' in with its scifi political/crime noir/action thriller story

so those elements that other shows would want to 'hand wave' away - it wants to delve into the weird science things

Amos is one of my favorite characters on TV - pretty sure it’s the portrayal
don’t really even know that actor but he kills it everytime he’s on screen (literally and figuratively)

I agree 100%, he's like the silent backbone of the team too...

Man, this scene was Amos going full Amos and it was awesome...

Amos, 'The others don't get it yet, but uh, I know what you are.'
Murtry, 'Huh. And what is that.'
Amos, 'A killer. You have all of these excuses that you seem right, but the truth is, your dick got hard when you smoked that guy in front of everybody, and you can't wait to do it again.'
Murtry, 'Speaking from experience?'
Amos, 'Not really. But, from one killer to another, you don't wanna try that shirt with my people.'
Murtry, 'Someday, I think you and I are going to end up bloody.'
Amos, 'How 'bout now? I'm free right now.'

I'm 2 episodes into S4 and halfway through the book corresponding to it. Already I can see that this season diverges from the books way more than the first 3 did. The overall umbrella plots the same, but many more subplots getting them there are different. This is not a complaint. It is actually great having 2 different versions to enjoy.

This show has greatly benefitted from moving to Amazon. Holden is still the weak link as an actor, but the rest of the cast is doing great work.

was wondering about that too
i think it's partly the nature of the hero roll - i liked jon snow much more before he became 'the chosen one'
s1 Expanse had MANY acting (actor) challenges, but i found his character much more compelling then

Those first season acting challenges keep my wife from watching the show now. She forgives little...

I'm not a fan of Naomi's new hairstyle.

I finished the season last night, wow is all I can say. Amazon made the right choice to find the show as it needed. The visuals looked great. Holden is at his best when it's just him and Amos. I've read all the books and am having no trouble with the adaptations to film.

Only watch if you've seen all 4 seasons b/c there are 3 short scenes from this season... classic Amos moments and mildly NSFW
