My only issue with this episode is the way they brought it together. I think I would have preferred if they cut back and forth more because the Pershing storyline was just kind of boring.

I think it just being randomly in the middle of a show that hasn’t really touched on anything outside of the show made it so weird. Like if we had had more ”side story” in previous seasons it wouldn’t have been such a jarring change.

This sums up my opinion on the episode.

I was going to comment that it felt like an Andor episode. Still liked it. I don't mind them laying groundwork for future episodes, I just hope the two storylines meet somewhere and we aren't looking at splitting the episodes into two unrelated storylines.

Thinking through the opening sequence, there is definitely a question of who sent all those interceptors. I like the notion that Thrawn might be behind it, but the bigger question is why. Why did whoever it is send a huge platoon of interceptors and bombers to destroy Bo Katan? Who feels threatened by her, and what is it they are afraid she might do? That is the essential question at play in the attack.

It was definitely a different type of episode, but I enjoyed it.

I've seen some speculation that the Pershing/Coruscant stuff may be repurposed from the aborted "Rangers of the New Republic" series that got cancelled with Gina Carano got tossed. They said at some point they might work that in to the other shows. I think that one of the reasons this episode feels kind of strange is that it seems wholly unrelated to what is going on in the rest of the show, but also seems very much related to a lot of things that are being set up in the broader "Mandoverse." It wouldn't shock me if these threads are picked up in Ahsoka. And this is all clearly circling back around to Snoke and the attempts to clone Palpatine in the sequel trilogy, however you feel about that.

Anyway-

1. The New Republic isn't very good at being a functional government. This is actually something they've been specifically building across all media. They're not the Empire, but just being not the Empire isn't good enough and it's one of the reasons they'll ultimately fail.

2. "That's too many ships for an Imperial Warlord." Thrawn? Either way, always great to see TIE Interceptors. Always been my favorite TIE variant.

3. Bo-Katan accidentally joined an extremist cult. Interesting that she kept that Mythosaur info to herself. She's going to make a powerplay at some point.

When was the thing Bo-Katan saw first brought up during the show? Was it last season?

Kuill brings it up in season one when Din is trying and failing to learn how to ride the blurrg. "You are a Mandalorian! Your ancestors rode the mighty Mythosaur!"

I had totally forgotten that! But how do we know that Bo-Katan knows that what she saw is the mythosaur? Perhaps that's a stupid question because she's Mandalorian royalty. I guess I'm asking if she specifically has referenced mythosaurs during the show and if I had missed it.

She referenced the Mythosaur when she read that plaque right before Mando went into the water. And I think she recognized it as a Mythosaur mainly because of the curved tusks, I mean, I've never seen one before and that was my first reaction when they showed it.

This isn't just any extremist cult. This is the Death Watch, to which Bo Katan once belonged. In fact, she was a leader of the Night Owls and served Pere Vizsla.
All this is referenced when Paz Vizsla called her "Night Owl" when they arrived at the Watch's cavern. He didn't know it was Bo Katan, but he knew from her helmet she had been one of the Night Owls. One reason Vizsla seems unhappy that they are welcomed is that he at least partially blames Bo Katan for the death of Pre Vizsla at Darth Maul's hand since she was part of Pre Vizsla's group that joined with Maul to take over Mandalore from Satine.

At any rate, Bo Katan knows exactly who this group is since she was once one of them. How she feels about being reunited with them is what's at question, but as stated in an earlier post, it seems like episode 2 was about her redemption. She now has proof Mandalore is not poisoned and has every reason to want to reclaim her home world. Likely she will become the leader of the Watch through some circumstance that will put the Darksabre back in her hand. Since she is royalty and a redeemed member of the Watch, there is little reason for the group not to take her side if and when she regains the Darksabre.
