What if Drew Brees has a change of heart and wants to return for 2021? Do we risk losing Jameis like we did with Teddy or do we honor Drew's wish (2 Viewers)

Taysom is going to get his chance. They didn't pay him 20 million over two years, to run an occasional Wildcat.

I think Brees is going to "want to" retire regardless. So Taysom, and a drafted QB??? I don't see Jameis in the plans at all. (That could change if Drew gets hurt, and JW lights it on fire) He's insurance that was cheap.

Teddy situation stinks, liked Teddy as QB and loved him as a competitor, but he was never going to let that Opportunity to cash in pass by.

If Brees retiring means we need to see Taysom Hill at QB, then I’d beg Brees to comeback. I’d it’s an open completion and Winston can get his shot, then fine. But I’d have Brees on speed dial. But if Oayton decides our next QB is Winston? That’s the move. Either that or we trade the house (and Winston) to move up for Lawrence.
TBH...i don't think there is enough game time to make a judgment on Hill right now. Getting in a game for a few designed plays doesn't tell you much. QB's need to get in a groove where they are on the field constantly & practicing in that position all the time to be good. Secondly, a game plan for Taysom at QB full time is going to look much different than a game plan for Brees. I am not saying Taysom will work out...just saying you can't judge it off a 4 play package per game with limited practice at QB.

im sure if you ask the offensive players who they would rather have under center right now between brees and winston they would all say winston

This is a ridiculous opinion. And it is important to say: it is just an opinion.

Quarterback play is more than throwing the ball. It takes the ability to have everyone at the right place. It also takes the leadership to yell or to support fellow players at the right time.

More importantly: it takes a lot of trust.

You can read almost every week from players what they think of Drew Brees. Cam Jordan says he is the best quarterback ever. Demario Davis says it is an honour to play with Drew. Cook and Emmanuel Thomas came to New Orleans for the chance to play with Drew.

And Taysom? Many times we have heard that he ignites the team. That even defensive players stand to look of what he is doing.

That is the trust I am talking about. I have not heard anything similar about Jamies Winston.

Finally, if we know something about Sean Payton is his hate for turning the ball. He won't trust his team to a potential turnover machine.

Jameis at some point can be the quarterback of the future for the saints, but for that many things have to happen, including Jameis showing he can dramatically reduce his interceptions. Chances are he won't get that opportunity.

Just be careful what you wish for. I feel for the poor guy who follows Brees, whoever it is. If yall are down on the GOAT this quickly after the numbers he has put up the last several years, the naysayers won't give the new guy two quarters before the negativity sets in.

Nothing could be more true.

Im watching Teddy play and he has had a career revival since learning under sean payton, i have no idea how the panthers are winning without cmc. But do we risk losing Jameis who also seems to have taken his career more seriously by getting in shape and learning from sean payton in similar fashion if Drew wants to return next year.

I hope so. I have never seen any indication that he is any more than a journeyman.

Didn't Drew have to think about whether he wanted to come back this year? I can't see him trying to play another year beyond this season. I think it would be unwise.
HARD NO. Go fishing, Drew. Raise those kids. Not good for either party.

Think it depends on brady. It’s a head to head competition for the all time record books between the two.

I'm afraid you are spot-on. If Brees cannot win another SB because of lack of arm strength or loss of mobility around the pocket, I would like to see him retire before next year and for the franchise to find out what's next.

This dinking and dunking, primarily to the backs is driving me crazy. It feels kinda like an intelligent accurate Bobby Hebert - lol

Brees and Mahomes are tied at 7.6 yards per completion.
