What is your most favorite non playoff moment in SAINT history. (1 Viewer)

Well it is a playoff but....Hakim drops the ball...Hakim drops the ball

That was literally tge first thing that came to mind this morning when I opened up this thread.

Having so many great (and awful) playoff memories does make this thread pretty awesome because the playoffs are always memorable. Regular season awesomeness gets forgotten easier because the stakes aren't sky high.

For me it has to be NOVEMBER 29 1987 . After all the years of losing we were finally a winner. I have to confess I cried when time expired. For all the newer fans SAINTS 20 STEELERS 16 our 9'th win in our first winning season. We finished 12-5. in a strike shortened season. If you guys think its bad now after three 7-9 seasons you all should have been around in the 60's,70's & 80's. It was tough being a DIEHARD SAINTS FAN. Well that's my trip down memory lane thanks for listening.

Hate to be a stickler, but we were 12-4, 12-3 during regular season because one game got cancelled due to the strike.

That's easy for me..............Tom Dempsey's 63 yard FG to beat the Lions in the old Tulane Stadium.

We had season tickets in the north end zone!!........:ezbill:

Id also have to say Hartley kicking that field goal to send us to our first superbowl in 2009 was one roller coaster of emotions that ill never forget. I wasnt sure if he was gonna make it honestly, but when it sailed through i needed a new pair of pants to process what actually just happened! I was watching the game with a million seahawk fans (The ones they actually had back then) and all they could do was congratulate me because I had been the lone Saints fan on campus all season saying we were going to win it all that year. Great times.

Brett Maxie, Jim Wilks and Vaughan Johnson stopping the 4th and 1 on the Goal line - winners at last.....what a memory!

There has been a bunch, but being 34 I was young when the Dome Patrol was in action. I have memories of those times (like blowing the playoff game against the Eagles), but in more recent times.

1) re-opening of the Dome

2) Thumping the pats

3) When Brooks took over and we beat STL at STL when no one on the planet gave us a chance, and on prime time

4) Tracy Porter doing his thing against Favre and Manning

5) Deuce running all over TB with a boot on his leg in prime time

There is so many because I live and die with the Saints at times it seems haha

Actually, our 2000 road game against the Rams was a FOX noon contest.

I loved the reopening of the dome, its was a feel good moment and an incredible night.

But for me is was 2009 when we dismantled the Pats without mercy on national TV. Nobody picked us to win, we were both undefeated, and the pats fans at the dome were feeling pretty cocky. We earned respect that night and put the league on notice.

I gotta go with this one too (since I wasn't there for the Dome re-opener).

Our seats were in the South end zone, about as far away as anyone left in the stadium, and I remember watching the ball come down sooooo close to the crossbar that I had to wait for the refs to signal it. Thank goodness we stayed.

Putting last year aside, I'd go with us absolutely dominating the Falcons during the Payton/Brees era

One of my favorites was Brees pass to Sproles breaking Marino's record and completely embarrassing the Falcons at the same time on Monday Night Football.

Or when I went to a game with my sister during the Mora years, she was talking to the person in the seat next to her and the Saints defense made a big play/sack and she jumps up and yells "break his freaking neck!" as loud as she could, sat back down, and said, I'm really not a violent person... (freaking was the PG version)

My two top non playoff games that I attended are first a home game, and the post Katrina thrashing of Atlanta, The whole buzz during that entire game was crazy. Second would be the Meachem strip fumble. I attended the game alone, sat very near the aisle where the "unknown who dat fan" appeared. During the game, while totally surrounded by Redskins fans who were VERY cocky they were going to win the game and being ribbed very hard by these fans....I exclaimed pretty loudly when told...."are you worried yet that the Saints are going to lose?".... I responded, "No...I just don't know if we are going to win in regulation or if we will have to beat you in overtime!". Needless to say, it got real quiet around me later and a few fans left in disgust. Still not sure how I made it out of there alive.

Being a Saints fan since 1987, there are so many to choose from.....but I will give it a shot:

#5. Sept. 1993 against the 49ers....Morten Anderson game winning field goal that put us at 5-0......was on cloud 9 after that kick. The 49ers were so dominant and be in first place after that kick was a just great moment.

#4. The Carolina miracle.........the crazy kickoff return that was about to put us into the playoffs.......then....the John Karney fiasco.......for a few seconds, what a great moment.

#3. The 2009 season.....it felt a great long moment! But the New England blowout was super special, I never felt the crowd so alive during that game. It was like the Patriots were in a daze and it was just a wonderful mix of energy, mojo and belief that I have never felt before watching a Saints game. It was truly magical.

I never seen a Brady-led team just check out, that team just gave up in the second half. That was THE statement game to the rest of the NFL that we were the best team that year.

#2. The 2009 pre-season game against the Raiders.........that game was the first time as a Saints fan that I felt we could go to the Super Bowl. We were a well-oiled machine that game, it just clicked and I felt this odd feeling of wow, this might be our year.

#1. The blocked punt.....need I say more.
