By Bob Rose - Saints News Network | SI

On Monday, the New Orleans Saints put in a formal request to interview Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore for their vacant head coaching position. This was first reported by Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.

The Saints also put in a request on Monday to interview Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady. This was initially reported by Dianna Russini of The Athletic. Buffalo (AFC) and Philadelphia (NFC) are both the second seeds in their respective conferences and will play in the wild-card round this weekend.

The New Orleans Saints are moving into a new era this offseason with a multitude of changes that could bring both positives and negatives.

But one of the things happening off of the field is that Saints orthopedic surgeon Dr. Karim Meijer, who is regarded as of the top figures in his profession, is leaving the Saints.

And he is headed to the Denver Broncos, per a report from Sharif Ishaq of WDSU. There, he will rejoin the staff of former Saints head coach Sean Payton, who has attracted other New Orleans staffers in his tenure there. Longtime Saints athletic trainer Beau Lowery is also on...

Cameron Jordan calls Saints-Falcons rivalry 'the only one that matters'

Rivalries often form in the divisions purely off playing each other frequently, especially when both teams are good. Not all rivalries are created equal, however. For example, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tried, and still try, to force a rivalry with the New Orleans Saints when Tom Brady came to town.

Admittedly, Brady versus Drew Brees and Marshon Lattimore versus Mike Evans felt like chapters for an exciting rivalry. However, there never felt like enough true animosity between the fanbases to call it a true rivalry.

Everyone knows the Atlanta Falcons are the Saints’ true rival. As Cameron...

While the top of the NFL world enjoys the postseason, the New Orleans Saints are among the group that already focusing on next year.

After the worst campaign in recent team history ended with a 5-12 record, they still draft all the way down at No. 9 thanks to the sheer amount of teams that struggled to win games this year. They have plenty of holes to fill so rather than focusing on one specific need, they can afford to go with whatever player they feel is best when they get on the clock.

Here is an updated look at a seven-round 2025 NFL mock draft with that mindset:

Just 4 teams have drafted fewer players than Saints since they hired Mickey Loomis

There are only four teams that have spent fewer selections in the NFL draft than the New Orleans Saints since they promoted Mickey Loomis to general manager back in 2003.

Those teams are the Minnesota Vikings (285), Los Angeles Chargers (282), Pittsburgh Steelers (268) and the league-low Green Bay Packers (267 players drafted), according to the data from Stathead and Pro Football Reference.

You could argue that the Saints have been successful despite owning so few draft picks through Loomis’ habit of trading them away. Over that same time period under Loomis, the Saints rank 10th-best in...

Detroit's rough defensive showing has no bearing on Aaron Glenn's candidacy

The Detroit Lions fell from the playoffs quicker than expected and gave up 45 points to the Washington Commanders, though seven of those came off an interception returned for a touchdown. It’s led to a lot of football fans on social media questioning this loss’s impact on Aaron Glenn’s head coaching candidacy.

The truth is this should have no bearing on his standing with teams. He’s currently believed to be the favorite to land the New York Jets or New Orleans Saints head coaching vacancies. You don’t go from being the favorite to being questioned altogether.

From a public perspective...

There's a Ben Johnson-shaped hole in the Saints coaching search

There’s a Ben Johnson-shaped hole in the New Orleans Saints head coach search. Johnson, the Detroit Lions offensive coordinator, has been a popular candidate in this year’s hiring cycle. He’s interviewed with teams including the New England Patriots (who hired Mike Vrabel instead), Jacksonville Jaguars, Chicago Bears, and Las Vegas Raiders.

But not the New Orleans Saints. Why hasn’t this year’s top option been linked to their job opening? It’s been reported that the New York Jets chose to not request an interview with him, and there’s speculation he could meet with the Dallas Cowboys...

NFL coaching dominos should begin to fall after Lions' playoff loss

It’s been crickets since the New England Patriots hired Mike Vrabel as their new head coach, but the Detroit Lions’ stunning playoff loss to the Washington Commanders could change that.

We’ve mentioned before how Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson being temporarily unavailable could hold back the coaching cycle. Now that they’re officially on the market, the next dominos can be toppled.

Glenn and Johnson represent the top candidates on each side of the ball. Johnson is the favorite for the Las Vegas Raiders, and Glenn is the favorite for the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints.

The New Orleans Saints have long been connected to Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. Many people paired Glenn and New Orleans before Dennis Allen’s empty head coaching seat collected any dust.

They’ll have their opportunity to schedule an in-person interview with Glenn earlier than anticipated. The Detroit Lions were expected to make a deep playoff run, but the Washington Commanders had other plans. They upset Detroit in a stunner, 45-31.

This means another week of the Saints being unable to meet with Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, but that may be...

Cameron Jordan's favorite quarterback to sack may surprise you

There’s no quarterback Cameron Jordan has sacked more than former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan. Actually no quarterback in NFL history has been sacked by a single player more than Ryan has been sacked by Jordan.

So, it may surprise you to know Ryan isn’t Jordan’s favorite quarterback to sack. That honor, instead, goes to former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.

To complete the divisional rotation, Jordan also described how Tom Brady, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, reacts when he’s sacked. Though Ryan has been his most frequent victim. Jordan sees the aftermath...

Roger Goodell pushing for another expansion of the NFL regular season

If NFL commissioner Roger Goodell gets his wish, New Orleans Saints fans and fans around the league will get a chance to see their favorite team one more week each season.

Goodell told Bloomberg he sees an expansion to 18 games in the league’s future. In doing so, they would decrease the amount of preseason games in order to stay “within that 20-game framework.” Goodell added, “We went to 16 and four, and now 17 and three. So 18 and two is a logical step.”

Considering it a logical step may depend on who you’re talking to. In some ways, it feels like 18 regular season games was always the...

Shaquille O'Neal among many celebrities headed to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX

The New Orleans Saints are among the many teams no longer on the field in the postseason, falling miserably short with a 5-12 overall record that placed them dead-last in the NFC South.

But the Caesars Superdome itself will be hopping sooner rather than later, with New Orleans set to play host for Super Bowl LIX at the Caesars Superdome.

Despite his strong Louisiana ties and going down as one of the best overall athletes in state history, Shaq says he does not keep up with the Saints on a regular basis — that’s because he’s a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.

O’Neal may have taken the court...

Drew Brees' 2016 season called one of the NFL's best wasted years

Bleacher Report’s David Kenyon was inspired by Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals missing the playoffs to create a list of the seven best seasons in the NFL since 2010 that amounted to nothing. Burrow inspired this list, and his teammate Ja’Marr Chase could have made the list. It’s stunning to think those two players had the season they had, and the Bengals missed the playoffs.

They fell short in a fashion the New Orleans Saints are too familiar with, great offense with questionable defense. Drew Brees would be dealing to Marques Colston, Brandin Cooks or an undrafted free agent. It...
