Comic Book Talk (1 Viewer)

Sorry Rob, but if I can't place a serving platter on his chest, the chest ain't big enough.
Seriously, he and JR Jr. need to retire and set up shop in an assisted living home. Romita's style is just gone... Liefeld never had it.

Crossovers were more common back then. But now they're both being grouped with a third, new comic in what's bring called the ENERGON UNIVERSE.

The first in the group is called Void Rivals and they have already featured some from the Transformers universe.

I just read a review copy of Transformers #1 (out next month). It's really interesting.

G.I. Joe is kicking off with two one-shots (Duke and Cobra Commander).
I saw you mention this in another thread and wanted to get a little more info. I read the first year or so of the IDW Transformers from 2019, but then moved away from it. How is Image's take on things?

There have been so many "jumping on points" in recent years. I wonder if this time will be worth it?
I'm probably going to pare down my pull list to just Captain America and these four titles. I'm mostly interested in the main title but a lot of people are very hopeful for the Spider-Man title (because the current run is so bad), the Peach Momoko X-Men might be worth it for the art (if she can keep up), and I'm interested in Black Panther vs. Moon Knight.

For the record, as someone who called multiple times, and was punished heavily, for Jason Todd to die, I feel robbed...

I'm sure this was discussed before but do you all remember what comic or run turned you into a lifelong comic book reader?

Mine was Batman Year One and Killing Joke

My Dad bought me both on the same day

I had comics before then but to me those 2 were definitely a cut above

I haven't read comics regularly since the 90s, I hated when you had to buy 4 more or different titles a month to follow a single story arc, that went on for months)

I do still get graphic novels and collections on a semi regular basis (reading Bitter Root now)

The 2 you mentioned
Allen Moore swamp thing run was great too.

Captain America 253 and 254.

My Mom's second husband got me subscriptions to Daredevil which was right when the Elektra saga began and Captain America.

The Daredevil stuff was good but the drug stuff turned me off. The Captain America stuff was just right. I had been reading for a while, but these two issues hooked me.

Disagree. This was the absolute best of times for me (a collector since 9). Whether it was Superman's Triangle Era under John Byrne or Denny O'Neil's control of the Batman room as group editor, those were the best of times. These days, sheet is all over the place and you have no idea what, where, or when something is going on.

It was annoying to me.

If there was a Superman storyline it would be in Superman, Action Comics, Man of Steel, then there'd be a one off continuation in one or more of the Batman titles (Batman or Detective Comics, etc.), maybe Justice League too

It just got to be too much for me. I'd stop following then wait for the trade paperback to come out with the whole arc to come out (which didn't always happen)

Not sure about other titles but it definitely happens in the Batman event titles, like Knightfall and No Man's Land.

My dumb arse not only have the individual issues, but the trades as well.
