Nick Underhill: Players organizing a Players-Only Meeting (3 Viewers)

We're old, oft-injured, always on the wrong side of probability-busting events, heavily penalized, and can't tackle, but we make up for ALLLLLLL of that by being poorly coached.

It could be a players only meeting, a coaches only meeting, an owners only meeting, a Justice League or Avengers only meeting. This team is a poor man's Washington Generals. And every week, Curly and Meadowlark Lemon hit trick shots on us and run us out of the gym after pulling our shorts down.
Sean Payton was always in the grill of the officials before during and after the game. Even sending the league reports. Those few holding calls from yesterday completely de-railed our drives. Passionate coaches win in this game. Look at Harbough, his first year in SD and already has the best D in the league. How is that possible? He didnt even know the San Diego players 8 months ago. Not only does he know them they are already better than the Saints. i bet if you looked up his career there was never a "players only" meeting. One call does it all : 1-800-Jon Gruden. OR a similarly passionate coach.

Hard pass on Gruden. No retreads. Bring in young, fresh minds that are using modern NFL philosophies.

A players only meeting means we are cooked basically. If being a grown man making 6 figures doesn't motivate you to do your job, who in the hell wants to listen to another millionaire high horse them? This s... is over. Time to blow it up and bring in coaches who are in charge like CSP used to be. Youd think a defensive coordinator would walk with a big stick. DA is way too passive to lead an aggressive dog pack.
i agree, men lead men. That's how its always been since the beginning of time. Winning trumps $. These guys care about $ but what they really care about is winning. Going around the coaches, by having a players only meeting, says: Hey, we're going to have to do this on our own, we have to lead ourselves. Because we have no alpha leadership.

It might be too late for Gruden... But WHO then? Its easy to say "just bring in the best coach in the world that knows everything and is a great leader of men" No kidding.

I think too what fans fail to realize is how the smallest of things matter. It took two holding calls to de-rail the team. The Defense did play a good game, i think for the most part. But not having a legitimate starting QB on the field makes a difference. Say a holding call back us up, then Carr drops one deep to Olave. Where Rattler was only allowed to throw 5 yards.

Roll the dice on an offensive focused first timer from an established staff. It is not easy to find a Head Coach, but I am not a fan of bringing in old guys with aging philosophies and also may suffer from "generational gap" with the younger guys in the league.

The best Head Coach in Saints history was an offensive focused first timer from an established staff.

There are no guarantees the next Head Coach will be an upgrade, but it would mean finally going into the unknown with a chance at a better future. We all know DA ain't the guy. Personally I don't think anyone on this staff is the guy. Hit the reset button and make sure the new HC knows he gets at least 3 years, with the first 2 being "freebies" to rebuild the roster because this team is not 1 or 2 players away from being a real contender.

I think these kind of meetings do nothing long term.

It's not like we are playing well but losing. We really didn't have a chance since the Philly game.

We almost have the same hope every Sunday as of Carolina.

A meeting like this will not improve the depth or our roster, will not bring better protections or tackling.

Reality is that we drafted, paid and coached players that are not bringing the expected results. It's just stupid to think we will reverse the situation with the same people.

What we need to do is finally bite the bullet, and start a five-year plan to be competitive again.

Sean came from an Alpha tree, in Parcels. Start there. I do agree with making sure the guy isnt too old and doesnt connect with the kids and the modern statistics. So maybe theres something there. Saban didnt connect, he laid out "a standard" and you either play to it or GTFOH. We have a standard on D, but not on O w/ this team, and we're missing the GTFOH guy.

That's accurate, but it only highlights what Alvin said. They're a team that isn't paying enough attention to the details, and yet they're a team w/ a small margin for error that can't afford not to. Players play, coaches coach and that should be coached into them before the game, not spoken about during a player's only meeting after the loss

Hopefully they cover the details of catching passes during the players only meeting, I feel that's an important one that has been overlooked.

During the TC weren't guys catching weighted balls with water on it, etc? Yeah, that's working effecitvely.
