In that articled, they mention RDJ's legal issues as if there is some direct correlation to them hiring him to play Tony Stark as opposed to letting go of Majors over this, but it's apples to oranges. RDJ's legal issues over drug addiction happened in 1996, so he'd been clean for 10-12 years when they hired him to play Iron Man.
Marvel fired Majors the day he was found guilty (and good for them for not doing it before a verdict was delivered), so it's completely different.
I hope that, like RDJ, he learns his lesson, makes the needed changes in his life, and is able to get back in the graces of Marvel, et al.

Not completely true - but it was more RDJ’s relapses and the money people didn’t want to touch him with a 10ft pole, but Feige and some others went to bat for him
But it’s the stakes that are different- Marvel movies were nothing - so all or nothing wasn’t much of a problem

Now marvel is either the biggest or second biggest franchise- the risk analysis is much, much different

Possession/addiction is easier to forgive than assault. I’m sure it is more complicated, but I can see myself (in younger days) getting arrested for possession. I can’t imagine assaulting a woman I’m with.

No doubt
And I really didn’t want this to be the first thing I heard from him
He needs to start a giant mea culpa campaign
Then go back to live theatre for a few years, then maybe some Netflix (or whichever the 3rd biggest streaming platform will be), then maybe we can talk about starring vehicles

Tbf, I suspect this was more someone asked and he answered kind of thing. I don't think he went out of his way to comment on it. It's not really a no comment type of question. I suppose he could have said something like he'd rather talk about making amends and being a better person and let the rest sort itself out.

Idk if he still has a PR guy, but he needs have a clear message of he's ever gonna get back in Disney's good graces, let alone any other major producers.

Except one time while high he was driving down a major street firing a gun in the air. And another time he broke into someone's house while high or drunk or both thinking it was his house and fell asleep in someone's daughters room. Maybe a son, I don't remember that part.

It was his neighbors house I think.
I’m not saying he was an angel.

the clock is ticking... if they aren't buildling towards Xmen vs Avengers by now then what the hell are they even doing with the Mutants IP.

Mutants are the next phase after Secret Wars.

Secret Wars is, based in what little we know, probably going to be a soft reboot that cleans up the timelines/multiverse stuff.

After the Deadpool movie, I've heard speculation that their Earth will now be on a course for incursion with 616, thus we'll get X-Men vs Avengers. After Secret Wars obviously.

If I had to guess, I'd say that Secret Wars ends with the timelines merging into a new singular Marvel Cinematic Universe. Then we start with the mutant stuff and how society reacts to that (spoiler: not great), establish the new (or returning) X-Men, etc. Then the big finale to that phase is Avengers vs X-Men.
