The sad thing is that we won't know what we can get from any of our QBs without getting a healthy offense around them. Carr appeared to be getting into a good offensive groove prior to all the O-line injuries and before he got bull-rushed while experiencing our new 'open door policy' from our makeshift offensive line. Even guys like Joe Montana & Tom Brady (both of whom lacked great mobility) would have failed in our current offense. They would also be sitting ducks if they got the call to start.Rattler looks to have a better toolbox to work for the long-term plan for a number one.
But Haener's most appealling strength is his ability to learn the playbook, read and diagnose. With the Broncos selling out to stop a TD at all costs, it served him well last night. His arm is decent. I like having both of these guys and we're getting a taste of both of them, unfortunately under desperate, injury-riddled circumstances.
Sadly both are right around the 6 foot height range, but they seem to be good enough to overcome that. It's just not ideal and hampers both.
I think you stick with Rattler. Carr should regain his starting position when healthy. I hope they don't rush him back too soon.
I also don't think these rough circumstances are ruining either of these young guns. They both seem to welcome the challenge. We can build around both.
At least two were pure drops.Didn't Spencer Rattler open the game with 3 dropped passes? We're talking hit the receiver in the hands drops.
I think people aren't giving Heaner enough credit for being a player who can move and run. Of course he isn't Lamar or Josh running ability. But I hardly see him take sacks in preseason. He has a quick release and scramble when needed. Rattler isn't as fast as I hope he would be. At this time I would not mind giving Haener a chance. Its unfair to ask a rookie QB to learn with this support group around him. When they announced Rattler as the starter, I figured it was because he could buy time with his legs. It's not working, he's getting killed. Not counting QB, we have Olave, Shaheed, Taysom, Ruiz and McCoy out. Now we're down some backups who were forced in to the startling lineup as well. It's just an impossible task.
Rattler has not played poorly, he was put in to run a decimated offense, I do not think Haener would of faired much better, in fact I believe Haener would look just as good and would only make you want to see how he would fair with more working parts.Agree Rattler should never been put in he was a steal at round 5 but there was a reason he lasted till 5 he's not a Minnie Mahomes , Hainer should have been givin the start....
Agreed. I get being angry and wanting to see something else but Rattler was under constant pressure last night. His quarterback rating last night was close to where Carr's was the last couple of games and better than Carr's was against Philly. Under even worse roster circumstances than Carr faced. Carr was averaging 25.6 pass attempts per game and Rattler has averaged 37.5. Who really wants to see Haener to come out and throw 37 passes?Rattler has not played poorly, he was put in to run a decimated offense, I do not think Haener would of faired much better, in fact I believe Haener would look just as good and would only make you want to see how he would fair with more working parts.
I do not think you can go wrong with either one, but this team is decimated by injuries and the only reason people are calling for Haener is because we have seen Rattler and if it was the other way around this would be a "time to give Rattler a shot" thread.

Haener averaged 37.7 and 35 attempts per game his last two years in college. Why wouldn't he be capable of throwing it that much for a game or two in the NFL? And after what we saw briefly from him last night...yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing him go a full game right now. And that isn't an indictment on Rattler's potential/future at all.Agreed. I'm not opposed to it, Ratt is too raw right now.Not blaming Rattler at all but I’d like to see Jake get a couple games too. Just to see.
You're missing the point. Neither of them should be seeing that many throws when the first string QB wasn't even seeing that. The offense is broken and starting yet another QB won't change that. It just disrupts the offense another time for no reason. Rattler completed 71.4% of his passes last night despite the high number of throws, which is still higher than 3 of Carr's games.Haener averaged 37.7 and 35 attempts per game his last two years in college. You made the very point of asking, "Who really wants to see Haener to come out and throw 37 passes?" I answered that I think Haener is capable of handling that volume and gave back up to support it.You're missing the point.
