Saints could have deepest defensive line they've had in years if everything pans out

One or two brilliant edge players are not enough to form an elite pass rush by themselves.

They have to have help.

Four defensive linemen racked up eight sacks or more for the Jacksonville Jaguars, now dubbed "Sacksonville" last season. Four primary pass rushers posted 5.5 sacks or more for Pittsburgh and Carolina, the other two teams with more than 50 sacks last season.

When the New Orleans Saints made a bold move up the board to grab UTSA defensive end Marcus Davenport in the first round of April's draft, the move was instantly and rightly tabbed as an effort to find a long-term bookend for All-Pro defensive end Cameron Jordan.

But the move also means the Saints have assembled more talent on the defensive line than they've had in years.

The New Orleans Saints trading away Marshon Lattimore was unfortunately something that ended up becoming a reality on Tuesday, as they sent the veteran cornerback to the Washington Commanders. Lattimore was one of the best Saints players we had seen in a decent while at the cornerback position, maybe ever. Now he moves on to Washington to help them build off of a 7-2 start and an NFC East lead through nine weeks.

Not a ton of Saints teammates have made mention of the trade on social media yet, but one player who did was defensive tackle Khalen Saunders, who seems to not relish the idea of...

Darren Rizzi, the new interim head coach of the New Orleans Saints shared a few strong and emotional comments during his debut press conference on Monday. Despite all those comments being very cut and dry, he also had a few funny observations come up from his promotion.

Specifically one regarding T-shirts that Saints players had printed out last season, around Christmastime, in regards to him. These shirts read “Merry Rizzmas” a play on Rizzi’s last name and what he referred to as the “word of the year” in 2023.

“I got guys in the locker room (they) were wearing ‘Merry Rizzmas’ shirts,”...

tThe New Orleans Saints trade of Marshon Lattimore to the Washington Commanders is complete, and now they will have to face him sooner rather than later. The Commanders have a Dec. 15 date set with the Saints in the Caesars Superdome for a matchup that will likely end up not going the way of New Orleans based on their performances this season.

With the Commanders sitting at 7-2 and atop the NFC East, a matchup with the 2-7 bottom of the NFC South Saints is likely not much of a threat, especially now with their new defensive powerhouse Marshon Lattimore.

This will be the first matchup...

The New Orleans Saints have officially traded away four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore to the Washington Commanders. With that, they now only have one active player left on the roster from their legendary 2017 draft class, and that is Alvin Kamara. Here is a breakdown of each player, which picks they were, and where they now are around the NFL:

Alvin Kamara and Ryan Ramczyk both remain, however Ramczyk’s knee injury may end up ending his career, and he is missing the entire 2024 season due to this. Kamara is the only one who remains technically, and he just signed a two-year...

Not all third-round picks are equal. That’s something the New Orleans Saints will be learning the hard way after general manager Mickey Loomis missed a crucial detail in trade talks with the Washington Commanders.

Four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore was traded to Washington in a deal that brought back multiple draft picks. But the linchpin of the Commanders’ trade package was the third-round pick. Washington owned two third-round picks, and Loomis took the worst one.

Instead of getting Washington’s third-round choice from the Miami Dolphins, projected at No. 72 overall...

Monday night means Monday Night Football, and last night was a matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Chiefs started the night off with a field goal with two minutes left in the first quarter to take a 3-0 lead. The Buccaneers answer back early in the second quarter with a Rachaad White touchdown, to take a 7-3 lead. This lead didn’t last long though as DeAndre Hopkins comes alive in the first half, and catches a touchdown pass to go along with 66 yards to take a 10-7 lead into halftime.

The second half starts with a bang as the Buccaneers score a...

The New Orleans Saints have traded 4x Pro-Bowl CB Marshon Lattimore to the Washington Commanders, per Adam Schefter in exchange for a 3rd, 4th and 6th round pick.

Lattimore was drafted by the Saints in the 1st round (11th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. His time in New Orleans has been filled with many highs and lows. In 2017, he was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and has been selected to the Pro-Bowl 4 times (2017, 2019-2021)

Unfortunately, over the past 2 seasons, Lattimore has also suffered several injuries. In 2022, he missed 10 games due to a lacerated kidney. In 2023...

Could the Saints make a shocking trade?

The New Orleans Saints are going into the 2024 NFL trade deadline with no intention of being a buyer, and that makes sense. The season has gone terribly. The Saints are last place in the NFC South, and head coach Dennis Allen has been fired. This is a recipe for a team being a seller at the deadline, and I would not be surprised if that happens. On the other hand, there might be a special case where the Saints could trade for a player before the deadline, and this would be Anthony Richardson

Colts young quarterback Anthony Richardson has had an interesting first two years in the NFL...
