Some are suggesting that the NFL may not be taking New Orleans Saints’ quarterback Derek Carr’s recent injury news at face value.
In a recent episode of the Scoop City podcast, co-hosts NFL Insider Dianna Russini and former Saints quarterback Chase Daniel discussed the latest around Carr’s shocking injury news from late last week.
Along with sharing that the recent report of a shoulder injury threatening Carr’s 2025 availability came from Carr’s camp, she also notes that the league is seeing this developing story in a different light.
“I had a lot of text messages and conversations about the Derek Carr situation,” she said. “And it was very hard for me to find someone in football who said, ‘Oh, Derek’s definitely dealing with a serious shoulder injury.’ It was, ‘How long (have) you been doing this? You know what this is about, right?’ Trade bait, right? End of the day, that’s what this is about.”
This does align with the report earlier in the offseason that Carr and his camp were willing to explore other market options before his contract was eventually restructured. Previously, the assumption was that the contract being restructured would tie the quarterback and the Saints together for the 2025 season. However, this recent news is raising doubts about Carr’s future in New Orleans. ...

Today, the NFL announced the legends and active players representing all 32 clubs who are currently scheduled to make selections in Rounds 2 and 3 of this year’s NFL Draft in Green Bay. Representing the New Orleans Saints is OT Ryan Ramczyk, who will announce the team’s selections.
Ramczyk was drafted by the Saints in the first round (32nd overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. The pick that was used to draft Ramczyk was acquired in a trade with the New England Patriots in exchange for Brandin Cooks.
In his first season in New Orleans, he was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team. He was also twice...
The NFL announced today the Legends and active players representing all 32 clubs currently scheduled to make selections in Rounds 2 and 3 of this year’s NFL Draft in Green Bay.
Adam Rank of NFL Network published his latest NFL mock draft; however, this time, it comes with a twist. Instead of predicting what teams will do, his latest mock draft focuses on what he believes they should do.
So, when the New Orleans Saints were on the clock at nine, he had them adding Will Johnson, a cornerback out of Michigan, to their roster. This pick comes with prospects like Mason Graham, Teteiora McMillian, and Sheduer Sanders still on the board.
“Don’t be scared off by the uncertainty around Johnson’s unknown 40 time, Saints,” Rank said. “...take a swing on a new potential...
We are neck deep in NFL Draft mock season and ESPN has dropped a new one on us this morning from Mel Kiper Jr. and Field Yates. These picks are based on what they’re hearing and how each team might tackle roster needs. Additionally, they took turns making the selections. Alright, now I’ll jump to the selections for the New Orleans Saints.
If they go QB and Sanders is on the board, it’s hard to see them doing anything different here, and I get it. For all the what has been at times Lavar Ball-esque noise from Coach Prime, I don’t feel like Shedeur has done anything to scare me off of him...
The New Orleans Saints could be a potential landing spot for Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
Ramsey and the Dolphins have mutually agreed to part ways, per ESPN. The veteran cornerback spent two seasons with Miami, but as the team looks to get younger, they'll look to move on from the nine-year veteran.
Ramsey has connections to Saints defensive coordinator Brandon Staley and praised his former defensive play caller on Twitter/X after signing with New Orleans, calling him “the best defensive coordinator that I’ve had for sure in the NFL.”
The speculation surrounding the New Orleans Saints and the possibility of taking Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders with the ninth pick of next week's NFL draft has been rampant.
In a city built on faith, hope, and second lines, Derek Carr’s arrival was billed as the start of a new era. Instead, it’s quickly devolved into a cautionary tale of questionable salary cap management and quarterback desperation.
