This thing is going to break records for intensity in a June storm. It's firing off twin cold tops around the center. An eye shouldn't be far behind.

Yes, I suppose you're right on that. This does not bode well for August and September.

There is also no El Nino to protect us this year. The NHC is expecting La Nina conditions in Aug. and Sept.

June 2024 update: La Niña likely by late summer

The strong 2023-24 El Niño is over. Based on past events, does a strong El Niño portend a strong La Niña? Maybe, but it's complicated.

One thing is the blocking high pressure looks to be over us around time it enters Gulf so that's something to hope verifies
