And frankly I think it’s pretty audacious to come parade around your MD citing yourself with some type of authority only to have your panties get twisted when somebody ask for your area specialization. If you told me you were infectious disease expert that would hold a whole lot more weight with me then it would if he told me you were an oral surgeon, not that I’m trying to downplay your MD at all, but just so that we can understand your level of expertise.

No one gives a crap “who” you are, we are just trying to figure out what you know.

This whole medscape poll argument is seemongly causing too many folks to be very pedantic.

Sammy always said it was an informal poll, via registered users. It was simply to make the point (if memory serves) that physicians and other medical professionals have different views about the vaccine for themselves, for adults, and for children. The risk calculus is different for different age groups and health levels. I think that is a simple and fair point.

I haven’t seen anything about doctors only getting the shot because they had to

Months ago I did read that doctors were at well over 90% vaxxed and nurses were barely over 50%

Definitely never heard that 30% number for children of doctors

Physicians overwhelmingly support vaccination in adults. I believe that 90-95% planned to get vaccinated before it was available. But yes…we have to get vaccinated or lose our job. How many would have ultimately received the vaccine if we weren’t forced to do it…probably 90-95%.

The 30% was based on a large medscape poll amongst physicians. I think that number is pretty accurate. The reason you haven’t heard about the poll is because you’re not a physician and it’s very difficult to get access to Medscape if you’re not.

Lol we have to be vaccinated or we lose our jobs. >30% of physicians will not vaccinate their children. I love sticking my nose up to antivaxers as much as the next guy…but I do it with better rationale.
He flatly states >30% of physicians will not vaccinate their children from go.

His source was an online poll he claimed we were not worthy to access, but he was mistaken about that. When deemed that was not a good source he got combative and insulting.

I'm unclear why I feel that you are singling me out and defending him. Maybe I'm just in my feels.

Anyway, aren't y'all both from Florida? you guys buddies or sum?

So I always knew I would eventually get the vaccine but felt I had plenty of time and put if off for reasons like "I am going to a grandchildren party this weekend, don't want to be sick" so I ended up spending about 3 weeks in the hospital with covid and pneumonia. While talking to my infectious disease doctor I became convinced it was important for me to get the vaccine. He recommended the Moderna. I had to wait 90 days because of antibodies. I had my first vaccine 3 weeks ago. Was pretty sick the next day and felt fantastic the day after. My second shot is in a few weeks. Should I spread the shot out further or get it on time? Will I be sick after my second shot? I am asking for your opinions and experiences. Thank you.

I'd say get it on time and the booster when it's available. You'll probably feel the same after the 2nd dose. Bad for a day
then ok the following day. That's been the experience for most of us here who are fully vacced and boosted

I had it just before Thanksgiving 2020 then had my shot as soon as I was able. I never had a bad covid - no real fever and never any difficulty breathing - just tired. I felt al ittle tired after the 1st shot. The second shot was maybe a little worse. I had a headache that night and felt hungover the next day as I recall.

Haven't had a booster yet, but probably tomorrow.

Responses are all over the place.

Glad you got the shot. Go get the 2nd and then the booster.

Oh, and the keltec is badass!

There is a bit of a window, at least that's what I was told for the Pfizer vaccine. I didn't really feel much of anything other than some slight soreness in my arm. The window was something like 2 weeks to 40 days after the first shot for the second.

Reactions really do vary. Some get a reaction from the first and nothing from the second or vice versa. It seems like everyone reacts a little differently, probably because of our immune systems all varying in strength and maybe previous exposure to Covid that we may or may not be aware of.

I'm just glad you made it out of the hospital and recovered. Hope all goes well.

I don't know that there is a rhyme or a reason to how people react. My wife and I both got boosted with Moderna last week. She had "COVID arm" and felt very bad for 3-4 days, body aches, fever chills, so on. I felt fine, injection site soreness for 1 day. We were both fully vaxxed with Phizer previously. I had zero reactions to those, my wife had mild/moderate reactions (fever chills for about a day.)

GoodRx says more people suffer slightly worse side effects with the second shot.

It is unclear to me too. Being offended is a volunteer activity. I didn't mention you at all.

In any case.

Enough already.

It's a new year.

I was the one who asked specific questions about the survey and I've been known to be a dick. Maybe he merged us by accident in his mind.

Oh well. 2022~

I have stated this before but I’ll say it again. I work in a very large global CRO. My colleagues (70k globally) and clients (also both National and international) range from global regulatory experts, Md’s of every specialty, immunologist, biomedical engineers, stem cell experts of varying kinds, toxicologists, biostatisticians, and the list goes on.

Being a doctor is simply not enough for me. You could have graduated decades ago and as you said, specialty might be something where the person has not worked in a large multi-discipline healthcare setting and haven’t really kept up with things like this in their continuing education.

There’s not a single person in my company that I interact with nor on my clients’ side that are anti-vaccine. My friends and colleagues who work in the industry for other CRO’s say the same thing.

I previously worked for a hospital system for a decade. I know many doctors and nurses on the acute care side of this thing. Not a single one of them is anti-vaccination.

I’m not saying they don’t exist but they are the outliers and not 1/3 of the total.

I believe all of my colleagues and clients who study and do this for a living every day of their lives who all work with the various subject matter expertise and have peer reviews of the science and practices over some random doctor.

Not a personal jab on Sammy but to me, he’s just supposedly some doctor and in my world doesn’t mean too much as the expertise goes far beyond a doctor.

Also, people can claim anything on the internet. I mean who knows if @superchuck500 is really a lawyer 😂

Lastly, before anyone says anything, I recognize my experience is purely anecdotal and not a representation of any formal data.

It's like the men's bathroom... nothing but _______'s and __________'s in here.. haha.

Kidding, of course.

But the back and forth is derailing the thread. Everyone has made their points.

My wife doesn't want the vaccine. She had covid at the same time I did but just had some minor symptoms. The odd thing She smokes a pack of cigarettes a day. My infectious doctor said he believes nicotine plays a roll of lessening the symptoms. I told him I quit smoking 17 years ago but wasn't opposed to taking up the habit again if it would help. That got a chuckle and a response of no, don't do that. There I was thinking I had a good reason to enjoy a smooth Marlboro red again...

I guess that's my fault. You didn't mention me by name, but you referred to the article about Pediatricians refusing patients that are unvaxxed, and I posted that, so I assumed you were talking about me.

I don't think real well, so it's no wonder I didn't get into medical school, and no wonder I am wrong about you aiming those comments at me.

Things seem fair and equal here.

this is nice.
