Since Taysom is a qb there is no reason to carry three qbs, it’s a waste of a roster spot. One of the young guys should go to the practice squad.

Turner, at least, has provided some pressure when playing this preseason. I was high on Foskey last year, but he has shown that he's really not a good player. Lalos should have been kept over him, imo. I see Ram is on the PUP, does that mean he has a chance to play this year?! That would be huge if so, everything I had read pointed to him sitting this season out, so why wouldn't he be on IR?
The Safety position along with the obvious OL are glaring holes to me. I like Abram as a player, but he's the old school head hunter type, which DA wants more of the coverage guy I believe.
From the layout of the roster it looks like we have a few versatille spots which we are counting on for DepthSince Taysom is a qb there is no reason to carry three qbs, it’s a waste of a roster spot. One of the young guys should go to the practice squad.
I wouldnt call it attrocious but OLine is not very deep at the moment 8 feels a little light for a unit that is not our strength.Which position has atrocious depth
Since Taysom is a QB...

Hill is no longer a QB.
GotchaLet's get this correct fellas. You can't just say stuff because Hill isn't battling for a slotted position on the depth chart. He is a QB whether you see it as so or not.
Facts over Feelings. Facts over Thoughts and Opinions. TH7 is listed as a QB. By definition of league rule, he is a "Bona Fide" QB.
Accept That As A FACT!
Question:
What is the definition of a Bona Fide Quarterback?
Answer:
For the purposes of the Emergency Third Quarterback rule, A Bona Fide Quarterback Is Defined as a player who wears a jersey number authorized for a quarterback and (a) is an established quarterback (e.g., someone who has customarily played the position in past professional or college seasons); or (b) is a player who takes regular-season snaps only at quarterback during at least three consecutive weeks of practice, including any week the player would be listed as an Emergency Third Quarterback.

Taysom Hill is Listed as a Quarterback on the Saints Official Team Roster.
Why does this matter and why is it important?
The Saints listed Taysom Hill as a QB again in 2023 to possibly take advantage of the new EQB3 rule. The QBs on the roster were Carr, Winston, and Hill. They wouldn't have used it with Hill because he wouldn't have been able to see the field in all of his other roles. They could have used it with Winston which would have given JW a gameday roster exemption and allowed the Saints to carry another player on the gameday roster.
The Saints didn't use the EQB3 designation at all in 2023.
The Saints 2024 53-man roster as of now has 4 Quarterbacks on it, Carr, Haener, Rattler, and Hill.
The EQB3 rule as it currently stands say that if a team has 4 Quarterbacks on the 53-man roster the team Can Not use one of them as the EQB3.
As it stands now, the Saints won't be able to use the EQB3 roster exemption on any one of the current QBs on the roster, as long as there are 4 on it.
Provided that the Saints continue to keep all 4 players on the 53-man roster, the Saints most likely will have Carr, Hill, and either Haener or Rattler active on the gameday roster. Either Haener or Rattler will be a healthy scratch as a gameday Inactive player.
If Carr gets injured in a game, we most likely will see the young active QB finish the game, so that Hill can continue his multi-roles but with a heavier dose of TH7 in the QB position to take some of the pressure off of the youngster. If Carr were to get injured and miss game(s), the Saints would then have Carr as Inactive with Hill, Haener, and Rattler active. One of the two youngsters would most likely start but could be replaced by the other if the first one struggles.
Here's hoping that Carr remains healthy in 2024 and balls out!

Taysom could fill in as a competent third string qb. With his experience he can learn the plays. The coach needs to make a decision, if there is not much difference between the two, chances are you don’t have two Joe Montana’s. Keep one and add value at other positions. It is not a waste and Hill is no longer a QB. He took very few snaps as a QB in camp. He really doesn't know the new system and could not run the full playbook as a QB. He likely only knows a few plays designed to get him a few easy throws on trick plays to keep teams honest when he is lined up in the Wildcat.Haener and Rattler are your backup QBs. If you cut either, they are highly likely to get claimed before they get to the PS. And, both of them have upside from here. I think Rattler is better, but either one of them could end up being our future starter and the other a solid backup. There is no reason to cut either. It's taken years to find even one QB as promising as Haener and Rattler. Cutting one to try to put him on the PS would be a really bad move.
Taysoms been in the league a long time. The team would be better positioned to send one of the young qbs to the practice squad and use the roster spot for another position. Having four qbs on the 53 man roster doesn’t make sense.I'm not just saying stuff. Regardless of how he is listed, he took a few reps at QB in OTAs but there is not a single report of his actually taking reps running the new offensive scheme during training camp. He did run some Wildcat and they have "Taysom plays" but he's not really being used as a QB. And, since they switched the entire offensive system, he has zero experience running the new offense as a QB. That is unless you count the "Taysom" plays which are really just Wildcat plays with some wrinkles thrown in to keep the defense honest.
Taysom simply can't start a game or even come in to finish a game without having worked in the new system. It's not the old days where he knew the Payton system and had plenty reps in it so he could be used as a legit QB. If they ever use him to close out a game it will just be to run out the clock in the Wildcat or on a trick play.
How he is listed on the roster is only of interest to fantasy football players.

Whether he is designated as the EQB3 emergency quarterback, I suspect Hill will serve in that role assuming Carr and then the QB2 (Rattler or Haener) get hurt. There's no way Rattler AND Haener are both active on game days. I assume they will have a solid package of plays that Hill will be able to run if he has to go in for injury purposes. While he hasn't practiced as a QB and likely isn't in the QB room this offseason, he most certainly IS a quarterback in that he knows how to play the position. Let's not forget he went 7-2 as a starter for the Saints and played pretty well.

I agree to think Taysom doesn’t have enough experience to be third qb is kinda wild. You're right. When you make a clear and concise erroneous statement that you (should) know is false, it goes beyond just saying stuff. SMH
Hill is a smart guy. He got a degree in finance at BYU. He's been in NFL QB rooms for 8 years. Most of that time he was mentored by Drew Brees and Sean Payton. He's experienced as a starting NFL QB. He has a winning record as a starting QB. He's been in the Saints QB room this year in the current system ran by Kubiak.
None of us knows for sure if Hill has taken any reps at QB or not that go beyond the "Taysom" plays because all we know is what the media has reported, and the media hasn't been allowed to see every practice and rep in OTAs, Mini-Camp, or Training Camp. The media's knowledge is limited to what they have seen thus far.
The Saints are practicing this afternoon. The media only has access to a 25-minute viewing period. We don't know what plays the Saints are hiding from the media. We don't know what the Saints are hiding from the rest of the league. We don't know what the Saints are hiding from fans like any of us. So how can you be so sure?
You're making a lot of statements that are purely assumptions without having knowledge of all of the facts. Your reply is full of speculation that is not known.
His roster designation is of more interest than just to fantasy football players. I pointed out in my post how his designation affects the use of the EQB3. Read it.
BTW, I find it interesting that you Face Palmed my post, though it was Factual in content, most likely because it went against the narrative and opinion you support.
