Ingram benched [OLD THREAD BUMPED] (1 Viewer)

Poor vision and couldn't break a tackle by my grandmother.

Other than that he's an average back.

Ingram made horrible mistakes two weeks in a row. It happens, coaches make tough moves, and players learn tough lessons. It's part of the game, It's part of life.

BUT WOW!!! I wonder what the "fans" will say when and/or if Drew ever has a few horrible games in a row. Or Cooks, Or Michael Thomas, or Cam, or anyone else who happens to hit a rough patch. I'm happy for Hightower, but cant and wont hate on Ingram. Bad games and rough stretches happen. I cant wait to see how Mark responds.

On that not, only cowards and comedians kick people when their down. I would pay to see some of these dudes share their negative comments to Mark in person. In real life, I'd bet these guys would probably ask for his autograph instead.

Ingram has played against Seattle 3 times. And in each game he has fumbled in a critical part of the field that lead to a Seattle touchdown. He doesn't run over people, he's not elusive, and if you breath on him he falls down. He's no where near the running back Piere Thomas was, and in big games, he's a liability on the field.

Sad how a lot of fans let their "hate all things Bama" bias get the way and never supported him from the start. Not saying he didn't deserve getting benched today but the hate some of you spew his way is rediculous.

Trade him. Highest bidder. Seriously. Trading deadline Tuesday. What other team out there needs an above average RB until their starter recovers from injury? Green Bay, New England? Time to cut bait. He's slow, can't turn the edge, fumbles. We play better without him. With Hightower and the other group of RB's we have that's enough to carry us till the next draft.

so what team is going to give up a draft pick for a slow rb that fumbles and run in the back of his blockers with no vision?

3.9 yards per carry on the season for Ingram.

3.9 yards per carry today for Hightower today.

But trade that bum Ingram amirite?

3.9 yards per carry on the season for Ingram.

3.9 yards per carry today for Hightower today.

Sorry, but Stevie Wonder saw the difference today. Hightower runs with passion, breaks tackles, and makes plays. Not a super star, but IMO a much better back.

I don't think Ingram's passion is questionable. I'm not really sure about today as the fumble occurred whilst my fox affiliate was still showing the end of the bengals v skins game, but last week you could argue he fumbled because he was running hard and passionately fighting for more yards rather than just going down.

Today was more about Payton proving a point for me, and I think Hightower having the performance he did also made the decision to leave him there easier than it otherwise could've been. We were also much more committed to the run than any other time this season. The entire game for me was very much a "prove yourself" one versus a team who's labelled us as soft in the past and I think that reflected in the gameplan and real time tactics, especially on our offensive side. So I think that also factored into the decision.

We will need Ingram at some point, but hopefully in a reserve role. He has cost us two games in ball security and almost cost us today. Hightower has been the better runner and has earned more of the reps at this point.

^This.

I like Ingram and have tried to support him like I would any of our players that I think it part of the big picture of our success. But you can't deny that Ingram looks different this year. He lacks the burst and the violence that I thought made him successful in the past.

Unquestionably, we're no worse with Ingram in a secondary role and it would be hard to argue against moving Hightower to #1. If it causes Ingram to get mad and get that spark back, great. But right now the only thing that matters is what helps us win now. There will be plenty of time to figure the rest out later.

Slight Tangent - tell me again why the Saints let Sproles go!

He's doing an awesome job tonight!

(scoll also said that he made the Pro Bowl the last 2 years...)

We were trying to free up money for Graham. That's really the bottom line. It's unfortunate but he was going to make $3.5M in 2014 versus the $570K that we paid Cadet.
