I don't think Scottie served under Pike, only Kirk.
The first episode he was in was the third episode of season 1of the original series. I think they had a different Chief Engineer the first 2 episodes.

We would also have to see when/how Pike ends up in the Hawking chair as well.But surely we'll get a "passing the torch" situation, right? Even if it is the last episode. I'd just rather see Hemmer go on to maybe teach at the Academy or something like that rather than die.
Which is why I don't think he and Pike ever overlapped. Yes, it looked incredible. I always have enjoyed episodes that are a bit more ship-centric.The show is going pretty well, so far. I did enjoy the wrath of Khan kind of ship fight.
