McKenna's story - he was paralyzed from a cycling accident in 2015 - became public when his friend Jackson Smith wrote an op-ed piece for The Washington Post titled, "How Drew Brees helped me and a friend get through war and heartache." In it, Smith details how Smith elevated his spirits while he was serving in Afghanistan by sending a photo of a cutout version of Smith posing with Brees and his wife Brittany following the Bacchus parade. Smith returned the favor folliowing McKenna's accident by getting Brees to pose with a cutout of McKenna following a Saints game. You can read the entire story here but the section below gets to the heart of it:

"And so he had done it again. For the second time Drew Brees had shown up to bring some measure of hope and good will to a person at their lowest point. I don’t think he knows the magnitude of what he has done for me or for my best friend. I wouldn’t expect him to, as he has affected so many thousands of people in the same way. His impact on the city of New Orleans has been discussed in many forums, but it cannot be exaggerated. He has embraced his role as a symbol of hope, and he carries that burden every day with the grace and selflessness that have made him my city’s favorite son.

The New Orleans Saints lost offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak to the Seattle Seahawks a week ago, and it was expected quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko would also follow suit. Seattle received permission to interview Janocko in a lateral move. On Monday, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Janocko is joining Kubiak in Seattle — and they’re bringing offensive line coach John Benton with them.

Janocko has always been Kubiak’s quarterback coach. They were on the Minnesota Vikings’ staff together before Kubiak brought him to New Orleans. It would make sense for those two to reunite in...

Does Jaxson Dart to the Saints make sense?

Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart’s name has increasingly appeared as a possibility for the New Orleans Saints in the 2025 NFL Draft. While Dart is a projected late first-round/early second-round pick, the possibility of his draft stock rising and the Saints taking him ninth overall is very realistic if he has a positive performance in the Senior Bowl and the combine. New Orleans may also be incentivized to take the four-year college starter in the first round for the opportunity to pick up the fifth-year option down the road.

Dart had his best season in college in 2024 finishing the year...

New reporting from multiple major news outlets has uncovered hundreds of emails documenting the New Orleans Saints’ involvement in an ongoing clergy abuse crisis within the Catholic archdiocese — a scandal that has led archbishop Gregory Michael Aymond to fire the board and CEO of Second Harvest food bank after they balked at using the nonprofit’s resources to pay for tens of millions of dollars the archdiocese owes to hundreds of child sex abuse survivors. Donors have voiced their outrage at this move while Aymond has defended his actions as being misrepresented by the leadership he...

One of the members of the New Orleans Saints’ 2024 undrafted free agent class will be joining the UFL, as defensive lineman Kyler Baugh has signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks. Baugh played college football at Minnesota before signing a standard rookie contract with New Orleans that guaranteed him just $25,000.

Baugh was on three different rosters in 2024, starting off with the Saints during the offseason, then moving on to the New York Giants, and ending his year on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad.

His contract with the Falcons to remain on their practice squad expired, and he was...

The city of New Orleans is known for many things. Rich in culture, history, music, and of course, food, New Orleans offers its visitors a huge variety of options of things to do and see, so it makes sense that the “Crescent City” would be a preferred place to host the NFL’s Championship game.

After New Orleans was awarded Super Bowl LIX, their record-tying 11th Super Bowl, the Super Bowl Host Committee, City of New Orleans, and Louisiana Office of Tourism went to work, planning an incredible array of unique decor and events, all of which will highlight what truly makes New Orleans so...

The New Orleans Saints are not yet officially allowed to hire Kellen Moore as their next head coach, but it is heavily favored to be happening after the Super Bowl. With Moore in mind, some connections can start to be made with coaches that could make sense has potential staff hires.

Our own John Sigler floated an intriguing name on Friday night in Missouri Tigers offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Kirby Moore, Kellen’s younger brother. While the two have not coached together yet, they were able to play together on the Boise State Broncos back in their college days.

At this point, it’s pretty safe to project Kellen Moore as the next head coach of the New Orleans Saints. New Orleans has to wait until after the Super Bowl to officially hire the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator, but they’ve told everyone else the race is more or less over.

As an offensive minded head coach, the first thought becomes what is he going to do at quarterback. A recent report from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini suggested Moore was less than enthralled with the quarterback room, though he may have come around on the idea of working with them anyway.

Don’t like Derek...

How much would it cost the Saints to trade up for the first overall pick?

The New Orleans Saints are still in pursuit of their quarterback of the future. Derek Carr is only an answer in the immediate future, maybe. Though he wasn’t able to win a game, the door shouldn’t be completely closed on Spencer Rattler.

What if New Orleans wanted to make a more aggressive move to get a young quarterback? Tennessee Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker said the Titans are “going to look at all avenues as far as that No. 1 pick.”

That leaves the door open for a trade. You only make that trade for Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders if you’re the Saints. You don’t...
