What Did We See During The First Saints OTA Session?

The first Saints OTA session is in the books, and here's a good bit of notes and observation from Tuesday's practice.

We got our first access to one of the many Saints OTA sessions on Tuesday, which gave us plenty of goodies to talk about for the next week. As always, here's all of my notes, observation and more from what all I saw at practice.

Saints OTAs, Day 1 Notes, Observations and More

ATTENDANCE

Twelve Saints were not spotted during the open portion of OTAs on Tuesday. Keep in mind, attendance is strictly voluntary, and Dennis Allen said afterwards that he's aware of those who were not attending, whether it be for a personal reason or not. Stanley Morgan Jr., Jamaal Williams, Marshon Lattimore, Kool-Aid McKinstry, Nephi Sewell, Jaylan Ford, Nathan Latu, Ryan Ramczyk, Tanoh Kpassagnon, Nathan Shepherd and Chase Young.

Several of the absences were related to injuries, which we touched on this morning. Oli Udoh was working off to the side, while Nathan Peterman, Mark Evans and Tommy Hudson were not participating.

MARSHON LATTIMORE

We got some really good information on the future of Lattimore on Monday afternoon from Dennis Allen, and it sounded even more promising after another update rom the Saints head coach. Allen doesn't expect to see him before minicamp, but say that's not uncommon, going back to 2020. ...

It’s important to remember that voluntary organized team activities are, as the name implies, voluntary. Many veteran players will start the offseason working away from the team, having hired personal trainers and specialists to help them get in shape before the spring practices pick up in earnest.

With the revealing of the New Orleans Saints season schedule happening just a couple of days ago, many of us had our own separate thoughts and opinions on these games. Now that the New Orleans Saints full schedule has been released, the staff at CSC has made their picks for each game of the Saints season:

Of the 17 games on the schedule, the CSC staff was only unanimous on 5 predictions this year. These being a win at home over the Panthers, a loss at the Chiefs and at home against the Rams and wins in both the Saints “revenge” games this year against the Raiders and Broncos. New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen gave an injury update on newly signed defensive end Chase Young. According to Allen, Young’s health is going in a positive direction, but he doesn't expect him to see the practice field anytime soon. New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis delivered some interesting updates to the media on Monday morning about star cornerback Marshon Lattimore and former Saints’ guard Andrus Peat.
