There are still some valuable NFL veterans left to be picked from free agency this year, including LSU Tiger and Kansas City Chief safety Tyrann "Honey Badger" Mathieu.

It is not surprising to see the Honey Badger still waiting for a team to give him enough money to sign a long-term deal. Mathieu has had history of looking to either get a large salary contract or keep his money. He spent five seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and was cut because he refused to take a pay cut. After one season with the Houston Texans in 2018, Mathieu signed a three-year, $42 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he became an instant leader on the Chiefs' defense.

There was speculation that Mathieu was open to re-signing with the Chiefs, but their salary cap this off-season did not work out in their favor. Now, Mathieu is open to teams that are willing to pay him and make a big Super Bowl run. Two teams that fit that description are the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints.

The NFL is nearing its offseason once again, and with that, teams will be vying for the top free agents on the market once again. With a somewhat underwhelming 2024 offseason for the New Orleans Saints, they only made a few signings that could have been viewed as true impact players.

One of the more notable signings they made at the time was linebacker Willie Gay Jr. who was set to compete with Pete Werner for the second LB spot. Ultimately this signing became less notable than anticipated, so let’s get into why that was the case:

Gay Jr’s contract was relatively simple in terms of...

This is a shame: New Orleans Saints legend and Super Bowl XLIV champion Jahri Evans was not selected for induction to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Evans, the longtime right guard for the Saints and their current assistant offensive line coach, will have to wait another year for the voters to get it right.

Evans wasn’t part of the Hall of Fame’s four-man Class of 2025, its smallest since 2005. Neither were New Orleans locals Eli Manning and Reggie Wayne. Those to be inducted are Sterling Sharpe, Jared Allen, Antonio Gates, and Eric Allen, the Pro Bowl cornerback who spent three years...

Another former New Orleans Saints player will be inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025. This year it was cornerback Eric Allen, who despite not being the longtime Saint in the class (as opposed to Jahri Evans), was a notable member of the team nonetheless. Allen was a member of the team from 1995 to 1997, where he would receive his sixth and last Pro Bowl nod in his first year with the team.

Allen was an exceptional defensive back who had a legendary career across the three teams he played for, accruing 54 career interceptions, 787 total tackles, and a...

The New Orleans Saints are truly clearing house from their 2024 coaching staff, as has been evident by many of their coaches leaving for new positions in recent weeks. With a new head coach coming in (Kellen Moore or otherwise), the Saints will look to build from the ground up, restarting from scratch. The most recent coach to leave is defensive coordinator Joe Woods, who is joining the Las Vegas Raiders, as reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Woods will be joining them with a lower-scale role, as he will be the defensive pass-game coordinator on Pete Carroll’s new staff. Woods had a tough...

Jahri Evans has gotten one step closer to the Pro Football Hall of Fame every year he’s been eligible. The longtime New Orleans Saints right guard and Super Bowl XLIV champion has progressed from the semifinalist stage in 2023, his first year of eligibility, to the finalist level in 2024, his second. Will he finally get the call he’s been waiting for in Year 3?

There’s obviously support for Evans among voters. It helps that he was inducted to the Saints’ Ring of Honor this season, an exclusive group formed by several all-time greats already in the Pro Football Hall of Fame: Rickey...

Take a look around any New Orleans Saints fan page on social media and you’ll find some criticism of Derek Carr. Whether it’s his level of play, his attitude and demeanor, or his ill-advised comments to the media, a lot of people have a bone to pick with him. It doesn’t help that Carr’s contract adds another big point of contention.

There’s some misinformation (or poorly-explained information) going around out there, about how much money the Saints could save by cutting Carr. So let’s take a look into what the team is paying him in 2025, what they could save by getting out of this contract, and whether it makes as much sense as his critics insist.

The New Orleans Saints coaching staff has been undergoing lots of change during this offseason, with the arrival of their new head coach expected to bring more turnover. We’ve seen much of the team’s offensive staff find new destinations in the last couple of weeks with an offensive-minded head coach likely on the horizon in Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore

On the other hand, the defensive staff has experienced much less turnover since season’s end with the only notable name being linebackers coach Mike Hodges leaving for a job with the Cincinnati Bengals.

However...
