The Saints haven’t been much of a feeder system for the rest of the league.

For a while, after the Saints became trapped in a buffering loop of 7-9 finishes, the roster was top heavy and without the kind of quality depth needed to succeed and endure injuries. Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen often calls the NFL a “backup league.” Well, when New Orleans needed one, it often turned to the street or waiver wire to see what was out there, or it churned the bottom of the roster.

There are better measures of success, like an 11-5 record and a playoff win, but it is interesting to evaluate the roster moves of the past few seasons and see which Saints eventually got picked up and had success with other teams. From 2014-2016, a high percentage of those cut by the Saints never again played a meaningful role in the NFL.

Coming into the week, not many gave the New Orleans Saints a chance to get a win against the Dallas Cowboys. With much skepticism after beating a bad Carolina team, the Saints marched into Dallas and put on a complete clinic against the Cowboys. Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak didn’t waste anytime dialing it up against his former head coach Mike Zimmer. Defense was again opportunistic and shut down Dallas in the run game. All phases came to play and the Saints are now looking like a contending team in the NFC.

Here’s all of the players that are deserving of game balls this week:

New Orleans Saints fans had a strong presence at AT&T Stadium on Sunday, with audible “Who Dat” chants carrying over the FOX Sports broadcast in-between their team’s big plays. And afterwards, Dallas Cowboys media caught sight of Saints fans marching out of the arena with a second line after their win on the road.

That’s an impressive sight — a river of black and gold jerseys complete with festive umbrellas and what certainly appears to be a trombone and a couple of sousaphones.

Natural geography has made Dallas a popular destination for Saints fans looking catch a road game without...

What we learned from the Saints dominating win over the Cowboys

The New Orleans Saints dominated the Dallas Cowboys 44-19 earning themselves an undefeated record through two weeks. The Saints have been clicking on all sides of the ball and their second 40-point game has revealed New Orleans as a real contender.

After New Orleans dominated the Carolina Panthers in a 47-10 win to open the season, there remained skepticism about the Saints as contenders as they beat up on what was considered one of the weakest teams in the league. That skepticism quickly evaporated after a similarly dominant performance against the Cowboys and their phenomenal defense...

ARLINGTON, Texas — No more having to twist around the reality of that playoff debacle to talk about what had been an NFL-best 16-game home win streak for the Dallas Cowboys.

That is over after another impressive in-game streak by the New Orleans Saints.

Loud chants of "Who Dat?” from visiting fans echoed loudly and got more frequent during the home opener for the Cowboys, who lost 44-19 after New Orleans scored touchdowns on its first six possessions on Sunday.

It was another dud at AT&T Stadium for the Cowboys (1-1) when expectations were so high.

Coming off a dominating...
