Derek Carr got a jump on the rest of the free agents in the NFL, hitting the open market on Feb. 14 when the Las Vegas Raiders released him.

The Raiders parted ways with Carr primarily because they did not want to pay his $40.4 million, fully-guaranteed salary for the 2023 season.

While playing for a new team is going to result in a bit of a pay cut for Carr, he's reportedly hoping it won't cost him too much money. According to Dianna Russini of ESPN, Carr is hoping to sign a contract worth an average of $35 million or more per year.

It’s been official for a couple of days now, but former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator and Super Bowl LIX champion, Kellen Moore, is the new head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

The hire signals a new era of New Orleans football, with all ties to Sean Payton officially severed. The focus for the next week or two will be building a new staff, but shortly after that, they will put all their time and energy into free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft.

It’s no secret that the Saints roster isn’t the best and has some massive holes, but luckily for Moore, he has a lot of draft capital...

The New Orleans Saints have agreed to terms with Chase Haslett to be their new tight ends coach per a report by NFLN’s Mike Garafolo.

Haslett will reunite with new Saints head coach Kellen Moore. The two previously worked together on the Dallas Cowboys staff from 2020-2022.

Chase’s father, Jim Haslett was the head coach of the Saints from 2000-2005.

In 2020, Haslett began his NFL coaching career in Dallas, as their offensive quality coach back. He was promoted to assistant tight ends coach in 2023, and served as their passing game coordinator last season.

Kellen Moore is now officially the new head coach of the New Orleans Saints, and although it is extremely exciting, some things need to be understood going into next season. Seeing immediate success in 2025 should not be expected, and really, the first year of a head coach’s tenure should be treated like a rookie year. In addition, the Saints and Moore understand that rebuilding this team will be a process, and this roster is not in a great spot.

With some aging veterans, bad contracts, lack of young talent, a question mark at quarterback, and so many holes on the roster, New Orleans has...

Let’s take a look at some of the key points from the introductory press conference of the 19th head coach in New Orleans Saints history, Kellen Moore.

The Saints brought back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, a former Super Bowl champ and national champion with the LSU Tigers.

The Saints will not be back to winning the NFC and Lombardi Trophies overnight. It will take some time and patience to get back to where the Black and Gold are perennial contenders.

The New Orleans Saints have a significant decision looming regarding starting QB Derek Carr’s future in the Big Easy. If they choose to move on from the veteran signal-caller, Laurier Golden Hawks QB Taylor Elgersma could make sense as a Day 3 NFL Draft pick.

The 6’6”, 220-pound gunslinger has a cannon for an arm, can extend plays with his legs, and I’d consider his decisiveness above average. Elgersma had a breakout senior season, completing 293 of his 397 pass attempts (73.8%) for 4,252 yards, 35 touchdowns, and just 11 interceptions in 13 games played. He was the winner of the 2024 Hec...

Kellen Moore is the youngest head coach in the NFL, and will be peers with some of the New Orleans Saints veterans. Sure, he’s a young head coach for the first time, but Moore has years of experience with with being a young coach.

“I’ve been in those shoes for a number of years now, being a 31-year-old offensive coordinator, that first time, half the guys in the room I was teammates with two years prior,” Moore reflected during his introductory press conference.

Moore got his start as the Dallas Cowboys quarterbacks coach the year after he retired. He was coaching Dak Prescott months...

After watching Kellen Moore’s Philadelphia Eagles offense help Saquon Barkley achieve the best season of his career, there should be excitement for what Moore can do with Alvin Kamara on the New Orleans Saints.

Moore had high praise for Kamara in his introductory press conference: “A lot of people for a long time have been looking for how can we find an Alvin on our football team.”

One thing that dropped for Barkley last year was his output as a receiver. Excluding the season he only played two games, Barkley saw his lowest number of targets, receptions and receiving yards. On the other...

The New Orleans Saints have finally hired their next head coach, former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

Along with that, the quarterback position is currently set with Derek Carr leading while Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener acting as backups. Ben DiNucci was also re-signed from the 2024 practice squad. There is a chance that Moore, a former passer himself, could want to change the room up a bit to better fit his offense.

That could come either in cutting ties with Carr or bringing up a player that he has history with to sit as a backup and work mostly as a coach. Either way, he could just simply need to bring a quarterback in to compete.

Here are five former Moore passers that could be potential signings:

The New Orleans Saints new head coach Kellen Moore met with the New Orleans media for the first time on Thursday. Fresh off just winning the Super Bowl in the Superdome as offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles, Moore now becomes the youngest head coach in the NFL as he takes the reins for the Saints.

Moore was first asked about his first 72 hours after the Super Bowl and how he got started in the process of taking command of the Saints.

He was then asked about how much input he thinks he will have on roster decisions, or if the team already had a firm direction before he...

Here’s a cool story. Kellen Moore coached with Chase Haslett on the Dallas Cowboys, and now they’re together again on the New Orleans Saints — the team Haslett’s father led to their first-ever playoff win. Jim Haslett’s son has gone on to put together a fine career for himself as an NFL coach, and NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports he and the Saints have reached an agreement on a deal making him their new tight ends coach.

Haslett, 32, is seen as a coach on the rise. He began his coaching career with the Cowboys as an offensive quality coach back in 2020, and was promoted to assistant...

Tracking Kellen Moore's New Orleans Saints coaching staff hires

Kellen Moore has only been on the job for a few days, but he’s already busy building his New Orleans Saints coaching staff. Moore chose to retain a respected position coach in Keith Williams, who works with the wide receivers, while also bringing back former Saints offensive line coach Brendan Nugent (who he worked with on the Los Angeles Chargers). And he’s just getting started.

We’ll keep tabs on all of the Saints coaching hires as they’re reported in the days and weeks ahead. Moore did have to get a bit of a late start on the process after guiding the Philadelphia Eagles to a blowout win in Super Bowl LIX, so it’ll be interesting to see how he chooses to fill out his staff with other options off the market.
