Notes and observations from Thursday's organized team activity.

Injury updates: Wide receiver Cam Meredith continues to do some work before team drills during practice. It looks like he is moving well. A.J. Klein was on the field but did not appear to do much.

Not spotted: Mark Ingram, Kurt Coleman, Tre’quan Smith and Brandon Coleman

Present not participating: Cam Jordan and Trey Hendrickson

Heavyweights: The highlight of Thursday’s practice was the moments when Marshon Lattimore and Michael Thomas squared off. And the top moment within that match up came when Thomas caught a contested pass up the left sideline on a curl. These are two players who are both arguably in the top five of their respective positions. It should be an entertaining battle watch throughout the summer, as both men are clearly approaching it as a friendly competition every single time they’re pair up against one another.

Let me start this off by saying, I know a lot of you all are already angry and you haven’t made it past the headline. Felt like that should be acknowledged early on.

With the news that Derek Carr may miss the season, and the lack of a for sure number one QB option for the New Orleans Saints (although I do believe in you Spencer), some are looking around at what is available whether through the NFL Draft or free agency.

What if I told you that there is a former Super Bowl Champion, former Super Bowl MVP, 4-time NFL MVP and 10-time Pro Bowler that is sitting around on April 14 without a...

Hubbard: Why the Saints should wait until 2026 to draft their QB of the future

The New Orleans Saints have a big decision to make in a couple weeks. With the 2025 NFL Draft looming and Derek Carr’s availability for next season in question, the Saints need to decide whether or not to spend their first top 10 pick in 15+ years on a quarterback.

Personally, I don’t think they should.

I know I may be in the minority here, but I don’t think this roster is a rookie quarterback away from making the playoffs and contending next season. Unless you find a Jayden Daniels in this year’s draft (and I don’t think there is anyone close to him in this class), then I think you have...

Perfect scenario prospects the Saints could get in the first round

The New Orleans Saints will have some great options to select from in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, but some prospects that could be available rank above the rest. Every year, prospects drop more than expected in the first round and beyond. This could be for many reasons, but in the top 10, one main reason is that other teams like other prospects. This is where the Saints can really benefit at pick 9. New Orleans does not have a position that needs to be addressed in the first round, and this flexibility allows them to take advantage of any prospect starting to slide a bit...

Should the Saints go ahead with Spencer Rattler as the starter?

With the recent news surrounding Derek Carr’s new shoulder injury, the outlook for the upcoming New Orleans Saints season is much different. The team is currently missing a certified starter at quarterback, and of course, because they are drafting a pick 9, that position is expected to be in play.

Before this news, drafting a QB in the first round, for example, Shedeur Sanders, sounded much better due to having the opportunity to sit the rookie for a year and learn behind Carr. Now, if the Saints select one at 9, that player will be thrown into a situation where they need to step up and...
