Cam Meredith and Tre’Quan Smith bring even more size and speed to the group of Saints wideouts.

By Chris Dunnells

The New Orleans Saints Wide Receivers were led by Michael Thomas, who continues to show he’s one of the better young receivers in the league. While he didn’t match his touchdown total from the year before (dropping from 9 to 5), he did set career highs in catches (104) and receiving yards (1,245). Joining him was the resurgence of Ted Ginn Jr., who stepped up in a big way, coming three yards short of the highest total in his 11 year career (787). He blew past his previous career high catch rate of 60.2% in 2008 with a whopping 75.7% in New Orleans in 2018.

Willie Snead was virtually nonexistent in the passing attack for New Orleans after serving an early suspension, finishing the year with only 92 total yards on the season. Tommylee Lewis actually beat Snead’s total receiving yards in 2017 with 116 yards in the air. Brandon Coleman continued to show flashes of productivity, but only finished with 364 yards and 3 touchdowns.

So here’s why they’re better in 2018:

The Jacksonville Jaguars had their eyes set on Liam Coen as their next head coach. The New Orleans Saints have shown no interest in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator, but they are interested in Joe Brady.

With Aaron Glenn joining the New York Jets, that leaves the Saints, Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders as the remaining openings. Ben Johnson and Liam Coen are off the board, Brady could be seen as the next best offensive option.

The Jaguars, specifically, are searching for an offensive minded coach to pair with Trevor Lawrence, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Coen...

The Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching search has been a rollercoaster ride over the last few days and the latest turn could benefit the New Orleans Saints.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen was connected to the Jaguars as their top target alongside Robert Saleh. When Coen stepped away from the Jaguars’ coaching race on his own volition, it was reported the Jaguars may consider Joe Brady.

It didn’t take long before Jacksonville and Coen found their way back to each other. All it took was the Jaguars firing Trent Baalke. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports talks are going as...

Who should the New Orleans Saints turn to after Aaron Glenn picked the New York Jets? The Saints are still searching for a head coach along with a couple of other teams — at writing, that group includes the Las Vegas Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Dallas Cowboys. New Orleans got a head start on all of them by firing their coach at midseason, but they’ve had little to show for all that extra time on their hands.

Our staff writers picked which head coach candidate ought to be Plan B for the black and gold:

Former Saints running back Reggie Bush has his own opinions on who should be the next NFL MVP, something that has been a subject of controversy.

The primary players being considered are Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley. Also in consideration are quarterbacks Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals) and Jared Goff (Detroit Lions).

Perhaps controversially, Bush said he would eliminate another famous Louisiana name from the race. That is former LSU quarterback Burrow, who is up against the fact that...

The New Orleans Saints are picking up where they left off with their search for a new head coach following a historic snowstorm in the city that grounded a lot of flights for potential candidates.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver is flying in on Thursday for an in-person interview on Friday, while New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka is flying in on Friday for an in-person interview on Saturday.

The Black and Gold are also expected to conduct second interviews with Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady and...

Cameron Jordan has been a Saint for the last 14 years, and has often expressed a desire to finish his career with the New Orleans Saints. His father, Steve Jordan, played his entire career with the Minnesota Vikings, and the younger Jordan hoped to do the same. But for the first time in his career, his hope wavered.

The 2024 season was a frustrating one for Jordan, especially early on. One of the notable low moments of the season came after the Saints’ loss on the road to the Carolina Panthers. Instead of joining his teammates in the locker room, Jordan was spotted walking alone down a...

With the news of highly coveted defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn accepting the New York Jets head coaching job, the New Orleans Saints will continue the search for their lead guy.

It was reported earlier in the week that coaches Mike McCarthy, Anthony Weaver, and Mike Kafka would be meeting with the team sometime this week after the recent snowstorm led to delay. Along with these candidates though, the team is also expected to meet for a second time with offensive coordinators Joe Brady and Kellen Moore.

A meeting with these two, will almost certainly come after this weekend’s games...

Opinion: Saints should take Jaguars' example and fire their GM

Organizational dysfunction.

These two words get thrown around social media spaces like people’s lives depend on using the phrase every chance they get. But what is true organizational dysfunction? Well, we got a glimpse of it with the Jacksonville Jaguars in recent years, and they finally made the decision to move on from general manager Trent Baalke.

It starts with complacency. Complacency with being mediocre, and rather than having the ambition to be the best, focusing on just getting back to being “good” or “serviceable.” The Jacksonville Jaguars struggled mightily in finding the...

The New Orleans Saints are completely focused on their head coaching search, but with some bad weather hitting the New Orleans area on Tuesday, they’ve had to hit pause on some of their interviews.

Since we’re in a bit of a lull right now, I figured we could briefly turn our attention to the NFL Draft and have some fun with a little three-round mock draft while we wait out the snow. The Saints have a top-10 pick for the first time in over 15 years, so this should be an exciting draft for the fans.

With all that said, let’s hop into my first mock draft of the year:

There were a lot of...

The historic snowfall in Louisiana has thrown a wrench in some of the New Orleans Saints’ plans when it comes to the coaching search, but there are still multiple candidates to interview next week.

The history of New Orleans Saints head coaches has been a relatively short one, with only 15 coaches ever having the opportunity to be the head coach or interim head coach in their 57-year history. Now the Saints find themselves looking for a new head coach, and if their previous history of hirings are any indication, the search could come to a conclusion in the very near future.

The last five non-interim head coach hires are as follows, as well as the exact date they were brought in to lead the Saints:

Based on these dates, the mean of the previous hirings is about 29.4, meaning January...

The New Orleans Saints have officially rescheduled in-person interviews with a couple of head coaching candidates in the wake of the city’s record snowfall, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The team will be flying both Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver and New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka to New Orleans in the next couple of days. Weaver is expected to arrive ahead of Kafka this Friday, while Kafka will be looking to interview on Saturday.

It was also noted that former Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay packers head coach Mike McCarthy will likely have his first...
