With the name J.J. Arcega-Whiteside being linked more and more to the Saints at pick 62 in the 2019 NFL Draft, we take another look.

There are a lot of mock drafts floating around out there these days with less than three weeks to go until the 2019 NFL Draft starts. The Saints don’t pick until deep into day two with the 62nd overall pick. The vast majority of the mock drafts that go that deep have the Saints picking a wide receiver, and one of the names associated with New Orleans the most is Stanford wideout J.J. Arcega-Whiteside.

While not the first pick I’d take out of the receivers potentially available, Arcega-Whiteside has grown on me some. But there are a couple of things that give me a little cause for concern and one major reason I’m not all in on the big-bodied Cardinal.

The New Orleans Saints coaching staff is nearly complete, but the defensive side still needs some roles to be filled. Yesterday, the Saints hired Texas assistant head coach/defensive pass game coordinator Terry Joseph to become the team’s defensive pass game coordinator. This was the first hire under DC Brandon Staley, and today, per Pete Thamel, the Saints have made their second addition, hiring Cal defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon to become their next linebackers coach.

This is the second coaching hire from college for the defensive staff, and it follows something NFL insider Ian...

The New Orleans Saints are hiring California Golden Bears defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon to come work as their new linebackers coach, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. He’s another new arrival with few connections to the old Sean Payton-Dennis Allen regime, and will work as a position coach under defensive coordinator Brandon Staley.

Sirmon, 48, was a fourth-round pick by the Tennessee Titans back in 2000 and played for them until 2006. A former linebacker himself, he’s continued to coach that position at a number of college stops over the years — he overlapped with Terry Joseph, the Saints’...

NFL Combine week is here, which means all 32 NFL teams will have valuable time with prospects behind closed doors. These are the moments when these future NFL Draft selections can change the thought process of teams and reveal new things that may not have shown up on tape. The 2025 NFL draft is growing ever nearer, and with a new head coach for the New Orleans Saints, things have become even more interesting when it comes to predicting their draft needs. As Kellen Moore begins to build his coaching staff, and eventually his roster through free agency, he will have decisions to make on who to allow to depart and replace with draft prospects.

With Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Media recently completing his yearly pre-combine conference call discussing this year’s top prospects, we figured we would take a look at what he had to say regarding the prospects many Saints fans have been calling for in recent weeks. Keep in mind there are some left out due to them not being discussed, the four listed are some of the most common players of intrigue lately, however. Some of them have been popular picks in fan-driven mock drafts, others look like shoo-in picks for Kellen Moore and Co. to build around.

With that said, here is what Jeremiah had for analysis on some of the top prospects Saints fans have linked to their team.

The New Orleans Saints have continued to add to their coaching staff, signing longtime college assistant coach Terry Joseph as their new defensive pass game coordinator.

Joseph is a New Orleans native that has been with the Texas Longhorns since 2021. Along with needing help with coaching in the secondary, it is also a need this offseason.

When it comes time to narrow down prospects for the 2025 NFL draft, Joseph could provide some key insight on a couple of top prospects that would make sense as targets for the Saints. He’s had hands-on experience coaching several Longhorns defensive...
