Marcus Davenport already making big strides with Saints

First-round pick Marcus Davenport has been enjoying his first organized team activities with the New Orleans Saints, especially when he has a chance to go fast.

Fortunately, coaches have encouraged him to move fast even while he's still learning the intricacies of his position.

"It got to a certain point where they're just like, 'We want you to play fast. It doesn't necessarily matter if you mess up; just go fast,'" Davenport said.

The Saints still have plenty of time to teach Davenport the minutiae of playing defensive end in the NFL, but coach Sean Payton and defensive line coach Ryan Nielsen said they've been encouraged with Davenport's progress.

"He's a quick learner, and he's picking it up," Nielsen said. ...

Saints place Chris Olave on Injured Reserve ahead of Atlanta Falcons game

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints announced injury updates on Saturday, with wide receiver Chris Olave placed on Injured Reserve with a concussion.

This comes after Olave was carted off the field during the game against the Carolina Panthers last Sunday. Olave had already suffered a concussion earlier this season but was cleared to play again.

According to the NFL, this marks Olave's fourth confirmed concussion in his career. He's expected to miss "at least the next four games," the NFL said.

The Saints are now continuing without two of their top receivers.

Alvin Kamara receives a new title for the rest of the season

This may surprise some, but Alvin Kamara wasn’t one of the New Orleans Saints’ team captains to start the 2024 season. He’s undoubtedly one of the Saints’ biggest leaders. He just didn’t have the title of captain until Saturday. He will now be named a captain for the remainder of the season.

Kamara has been a captain in the past, but he didn’t possess that title this season. It’s rare you ever see captains change in the middle of a season, but moving on from Dennis Allen gives the team a bit of a reset.
