The New Orleans Saints and Houston Texans both rolled the dice with two offseason transactions they hope will pay off. NFL history isn’t on their side.

Defensive lineman Chase Young and cornerback Jeff Okudah were among the top-three picks in the 2020 NFL Draft. They’re now going into their fifth seasons with their third team. That’s not how things usually work.

How rare is it for two top-three picks from the same draft class to both play their fifth seasons with a third team? It has never happened in the history of the NFL.

The 2012 NFL Draft class is the only one that came close, as Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Trent Richardson were the top three picks. Luck and the other two had no luck; four-time Pro Bowler Luck saw his career end after six years because of injuries. ...

Saints Reacts Results: Where will the Saints finish in the division this year?

  • News source: Tina Howell

Earlier this week, we asked readers where they thought the New Orleans Saints will finish in the division this year.

53% of the voters think the Saints will re-claim the title of division champions and come in 1st place in the NFC South. Now that the schedule is out, we know that the Saints will get to open the season at home, star in 3 primetime games and have a late November bye week.

Given that the Saints have one of the easiest schedules this year, fans seem fairly confident in the team’s ability to come out on top of the division and march into the playoffs this year. But first, it...

PFF names Paulson Adebo one of the NFL's most underrated players

Paulson Adebo developed into a player the New Orleans saints could lean on in 2023. The cornerback is going into his fourth season in black and gold, and he’s gotten the team through some tough situations when Marshon Lattimore was sidelined by injuries and Alontae Taylor was getting picked on while learning to cover the slot. Adebo is still searching for his first Pro Bowl Games appearance, but he is well-known to those in the know.

And he’s starting to draw more attention. Pro Football Focus analyst Zoltan Buday, who identified the most underrated player on all 32 teams. Here’s why he...

Saints will play two teams coming off of bye weeks in 2024

NFL teams always want more time to prepare for their next game, but the inverse is also true — it’s frustrating whenever an opposing team is getting more time to rest and plan for them. Fortunately for the New Orleans Saints, they’ll be playing just two teams coming off of bye week breaks in 2024. And both of those matchups are scheduled for kickoff at the Caesars Superdome.

The Cleveland Browns will be off in Week 10 before traveling to New Orleans in Week 11; last year, Cleveland limped into the playoffs with an 11-6 record after injuries sidelined starting quarterback Deshaun Watson...

Every away game on the Saints 2024 schedule

The New Orleans were able to walk out of 2023 without any cold-weather games. This is something Saints players and likely fans were happy to see. In 2024, they won’t be as lucky. The Saints take a trip to New York in early December, but that isn’t it. It gets worse when they have to travel to Lambeau Field to play the Packers on Monday Night Football. Those temperatures will likely be below freezing a couple days before Christmas.

Outside of a few cold-weather games, the Saints travel schedule isn’t too bad. They don’t have more than two road games consecutively. They only have one trip to the west coast and one trip to the northeast, so the traveling is kept to a minimum. Tough games against the Packers, Chiefs and Cowboys are road contests, however, with two of three being on prime time.

As the head coach of the Saints, Dennis Allen is 7-10 outside of the Caesar’s Superdome. Here are the games he needs to win on the roaad in 2024:

Every home game on the Saints 2024 schedule

Unlike last year, the New Orleans Saints play more home games than away games this year. Their extra AFC opponent is a home game against the Cleveland Browns. With an advantageous bye week, the schedule makers were kind to New Orleans. After a Week 9 contest versus the Carolina Panthers, the Saints don’t have to travel again until Week 14 against the Giants.

New Orleans also has their home games well timed around prime-time games. After traveling to Arrowhead for a Monday Night Football game versus Kansas City, they return home on a short week to face the Buccaneers in the Caesar’s Superdome. New Orleans’ other road prime-time game is sandwiched between two home games

Dennis Allen is 9-8 in his New Orleans Saints career at home. Here are the games he must win at the Caesars Superdome in 2024:

Saints' reunion games valued drastically different by NFL schedule makers

  • News source: Darrion Gray

There are two games on the New Orleans Saints schedule this season that feature prominent reunions, Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders. There could be a third game if you include C.J. Gardner Johnson returning to town with the Philadelphia Eagles. However, his departure was three years ago and injuries have kept him from playing the Saints in the previous two years.

The Raiders and Broncos are prominent reunions, but they are being treated drastically different. Sean Payton’s return to New Orleans is obviously a much bigger deal and is being treated as such. The Saints and Broncos face...

CSC Poll Results: Which remaining free agent should the Saints sign?

In this week’s CSC poll, we asked our readers which remaining free agent they would like to see the New Orleans Saints sign:

After 157 votes, former Commanders and Bears LT Charles Leno won with 34.4% of the vote. Clearly in favor of bringing in another tackle, even after drafting Taliese Fuaga in the first round of the draft, Leno is a free agent after spending three years in Washington and seven in Chicago. The Saints could bring Leno in as a veteran backup to Trevor Penning who could step in whenever needed if Penning struggles or any lineman misses time. Despite being a 7th round...

Predicting Saints' 2024 record with game-by-game picks

  • News source: John Sigler

The NFL released its schedule of games for all 32 teams this week, so now we’re able to look at the New Orleans Saints’ slate and make an educated guess at how their season may turn out. Can Dennis Allen improve on last year’s 9-8 finish, his first winning record in five years as a head coach in the NFL?

It isn’t going to be easy. While the Saints have some winnable games lined up, they’re going to be put in some difficult situations in prime time against familiar opponents and Super Bowl contenders. Still, the NFC South is vulnerable, and that’s going to give New Orleans a chance to make some noise and maybe sneak into the playoffs.

Depending on where you look, most sportsbooks have the Saints at 7.5 wins this season. So are you taking the over or the under? Here are our game-by-game picks for wins, losses, and the final record:

As the 2024 schedule was released for all 32 teams in the NFL, it’s always fun to look at the distances traveled by each franchise.

The New Orleans Saints will have one of the shortest distances traveled at 13,084 miles. This season they will travel through a different time zone 14 times. The Los Angeles Chargers will travel 26,803 miles for their schedule followed by the Miami Dolphins at 25,869.

The Black and Gold will travel to Dallas, Atlanta, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Charlotte, New York, Green Bay, and Tampa Bay.

The Saints will open the regular season at home against Carolina...
