NFL insider Josina Anderson reported on Tuesday afternoon that the Saints are “currently working to finalize a deal” with current Philadelphia Eagles quarterback coach Doug Nussmeier. This works in tandem with what New Orleans.Football’s Nick Underhill reported earlier in the day.

Tolzien is a former undrafted NFL quarterback and spent time with the San Diego Chargers, San Francisco, and Indianapolis Colts. We aren’t out of the woods yet, but it appears a favorite has emerged in the New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator search: longtime Kellen Moore assistant Doug Nussmeier, per NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill.

Nussmeier, 54, has coached under Moore at every stop in the NFL. At first assigned to the tight ends room on the Dallas Cowboys, he pivoted to the quarterbacks and was instrumental in coaching Dak Prescott up to some of the best years of his career. Kellen Moore has yet to name his offensive coordinator, but he is filling out the positional coaches. This isn’t Tolzien and Moore’s first rodeo together. When Moore was the offensive coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys, Tolzien was a coaching assistant from 2020 to 2022. Before that, Tolzien worked as a backup in the NFL from 2011 to 2017.

Kellen Moore is continuing to fill out his offensive staff, and he’s bringing back another former New Orleans Saints coach in his latest move.
